Does this happen to all newlyweds?

We have been married almost 6 months, and people feel the need to ask (as soon as you get married) when are you having babies?

It died down for a while, but since we moved into our condo our friends keep asking...when are you having babies!!!

I am not ready, I feel bad saying that all the time.

Do you guys get asked all the time too?

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

YES YES YES!!!!!

My husband and I dated for 10 years so people automatically think I am just going to pop one out, but little do they know I am STILL NOT READY.

The questions do get annoying, but I smile sweetly and say 'No, not yet'

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

Yes and I am still being asked. I was just asked my my nephew last week (also my RB). I was sitting down at the dinner table talking to my sister and then my nephew comes in (mind you he is only 7 yrs old) sits next to me and say 'So Kathy, do you and Enzo have a baby yet?' I said ' no Johnny not yet' Then he tells me 'When?' I said I don't know. My sister started laughing. All I can do is laugh because he was soooo cute too.

Still when is this question going to stop. I mean I have been telling people 4-5 years but then the same people ask me like a month later the same question. It gets annoying.

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

yes!! and I HATE it
people usually ask innocently but they should not ask b/c
1. one might want a baby and the other not yet and this will upset the person you are asking if they are the one that wants a baby now and
2. what if the couple has been ttc for a few months and not conceived yet

I really hate when people ask me
ugh

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

Yep - it happens! Mostly from people at work and not as close family. Most of my close family knows not to ask. But since I bought the house - they like to count the rooms and figure out how many children we are having. 4 of our close friends announced they are pregnant in the last 2 weeks and that has started the suggestive glances from our close families esp as we hit the one year mark...I just tell people my house is my baby right now.

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

Niecey that just happened to me. Since we just bought a house with a few bedrooms my MIL was already like 'which room is the baby going to sleep in?' We haven't even moved in yet.

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

Yes!! I NEVER asked that question. I know to many woman who tried for years & years with no results. So, I never ask. And truth be told not everyone wants children. My brother doesn't & he made sure his wife knew that before they got married.

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

People ask all the time and to be honest, not only is it none of their business, I find it rude. Just my opinion. I would NEVER ask anyone that.

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

Yup - and it does get very annoying. I don't really want children but when I tell people that, they always say 'of course you do' or 'you will' and honestly, it pisses me that people think they know what I want better then I do.
So, a lot of times now, esp. if they are not close friend or family, I just say, 'not yet'. It's just easier.

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

People used to mention it a bit but the people closest to us know what our plans are so they dont ask too often. For what ever reason it doesn't really bother me when people ask, I know it's none of their business but people are a curious bunch aren't they?

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

Yes! Get use to it 'cause that's what is going to come up for the longest time now. We've been married for a year now and the 'when's the babies coming' question started after we returned from our honeymoon. It's very annoying as we want to fully enjoy married life without children for as long as we can. Personally, I find it very rude to ask in public as it's no one's business except for the couple. It's a very sensitive topic for couples as it's a very personal and private matter that ONLY a couple has any say to it. Parents have to respect a couple's decision--like it or not. If our parents want grandchildren so badly we'll get them cat or dog and hand it to them 'here's your grandchild!'

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

Yes. We get asked all the time and I really don't like it. I also didn't like it when a couple of years ago before we got engaged people would ask me all the time, so when are you getting engaged.

This is a private matter and if I wanted people to know I would tell them. I also don't like it because I know someone who can't have kids and she's always getting asked, when are you going to have children. It upsets her everytime because she doesn't want people to know her personal life. I know people are just trying to be nice, but I find it to be an uncomforable question to be asked. When I make an announcement or when you see my tummy getting bigger, you'll know we've decided to have kids.

Re: Does this happen to all newlyweds?

We get asked this all the time! It's especially hard since 3 sets of friends who were married last year now have babies. We are still on the fence about children, so it's just easier to say 'Not right now' to everyone. Every once in a while my MIL will say something suggestively. . . but for the most part all the parents are pretty good about it.
