Dominican Republic?

Has anyone been to the Dominican Republic? If so, where did you stay? DH and I are planning a trip possibly for January and we are looking at all-inclusives. We save that there are a couple of RIU hotels all next to one another and you can use the amenities at all of them so that looks pretty cool, but we weren't sure if it was good or not. Any advice or feedback? Thanks!

We went to Puerto Plata and Punta Cana (2 separate trips)..I'm guessing you are going to Punta Cana. When we went there we stayed the Magestic Elegance. I wouldn't recommend it. I have heard that the Paradisus resorts are very nice. I would go to www.tripadvisor.com and look at the hotels in the order they are ranked by travelers. That website is super helpful.

Dh and I are actually booking a trip to DR today. I read tons of reviews online and we're gonna stay at Excellence Punta Cana. They are actually having a sale through tomorrow.

We went to the Excellance in Punta Cana for our HM and loved it there, the resort is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and completely on top of everything

I went with friends a few years ago and stayed at the Paradisus, it was amazing! We had such a good time and the food was awesome.

My friend and her boyfriend just got back from the Riu in Aruba and were not at all happy with the food. Not sure if they are all the same. But they spent all that money on all-inclusive and wound up eating off the resort more often then not.

we stayed at the Occidental Grand in Punta Cana, it was really nice and the staff was friendly, food was pretty good.

We have been to Puerto Plata at the Tropicana and I have stayed in Punta Cana at Hotel Paradisus with my family .. AWESOME experience... Great hotels.. Recommend either

We went for our HM too and it was awesome! The food, the scenery, the staff~all of it was incredible! We would definitely go back.

I went to the RIU hotels that are next to each other. Loved it. The service was excellent, and the food was very good.

You can use all of their pools and you can eat I think for breakfast and lunch at any of the hotel restaurants. I think for dinner though you will need to go to your own hotel. I stayed in a villa. It had a palm tree growing in the middle of the room and they had a mini bar that you could drink from without any cost. The beaches are amazing and they have tons of stuff to do. I would recommend it.
