my coworker decided to eat a late lunch, and she's having a veggie burger and fries. normally, that would not bother me, but the smell of any kind of burger turns my stomach inside out. she sits right behind me so the smell is all over my cube.

I know how you feel. I have a co-worker that before he goes to Court he sprays his cologne and I want to hurl...it stinks

I'm kind of sensitive to smells as it is, so I could just imagine how I would be if I were pregnant.

My friend could smell Tuna from a mile away while she was pregnant, and it made her sick...it's amazing the heightened sense of smell we get while pregnant

Re: downside to being pregnant
i'm actually gagging at my desk. she knows i'm pregnant too, but i can't expect her to eat someplace else, especially since she took an extra extended lunch to go to the dr.
funny thing is, my sense of smell isn't the best, the only thing that's extra heightened is the smell of food.
i'm so glad i don't have to deal w/ cologne, but we do get the occassional nail polish smell, and that's another

Re: downside to being pregnant
The other night on the train, the girl next to me was putting on press on nails. All of a sudden, I smelled something and from the corner of my eye, I could see her trying to be really sneaky about it. I'm not the type to open up my mouth, but another person probably would've ripped into her. I remember when I used to take the express bus, someone was using nail polish and the driver looked up in his mirror and told whoever it was to put it away. He told her she was in an enclosed space, and it bothers the other passengers.

hell yeah, that smell is GROSS!! Even when I just paint my nails in the house, I always need to open a window or door (no matter how cold it is out there) because the last thing I want is for DH to get home and be stuck in a house that smells sooo dreadful.
And about the pregnancy - jeez, that must suckk. My mother told me once how she despised PIZZA during her pregnancy, and then even afterwards, it still just never quite tasted the same to her. lol. That's crazy.

Sometimes it's so stuffy as it is on the train, and then I had to smell that. How did she know I wasn't pregnant and feeling like Tina, you know? Some people have no consideration.

thanks bonnie!!!
funny thing is, i do get a weekly manicure, and the smell never bothers me there, but anyplace else, it's so bad. especially on the train or at the office, where you don't expect it to smell like nail polish.

I was like that with steak and my first pregnancy. It was banned from the house. Maybe you could talk to her/him, or get a fan to keep at your desk.

All I have to say is, if I get sick from smellig burgers / pizza while I'm pregnant, I will be NASTY for 9 months. I friggin love both.
And Cassandra, if it doesn't fade like it didn't for you mom and pizza .... I will be for many, many years.
TINA: Sorry hon. Congrats on the house!!!!!!

Oh Tina I know exactly what you mean! Any random food scents that come wafting (sp?) over in to my cube make me want to hide under my desk!
