Ok ladies. So i know most of us are either looking or aspiring to become home-owners for either the first time, second or even third time ( ) My question is:
When you are ready to purchase is there a type of house you will be looking for? Like Ranch or Cape (Im not talking size, bedrooms etc) Im talking style of home.
For us We have always LOVED Americana Splits. But of course each of us own a two family & this new house is what is now my second fav a large High-Ranch. LOVING IT!

Re: Dream House Question
My dream house would be a Colonial....basically the house in Father of the Bride, love that house.
I currently live in an extended cape, its cute and I love it, but its small.

Re: Dream House Question
My dream home was always a center hall colonial. When DH and I started looking we both fell in love with colonial split level.
We ended up buying a regular old split.

Re: Dream House Question
Colonial. FH and I both grew up in colonials and wanted one but we bought a cape bc. it is totally updated with a new huge kitchen and bath. We hope to turn it into a colonial in the future!

Re: Dream House Question
I LOVE Craftsman style homes. Someone around the block from us just turned their house into a craftsman and I always drive by slowly and admire it. At this point though I'll be happy with any home we can afford!

I've always said the same thing about the father of the bride house! It's definitely what I picture when I think of my 'dream house'.
We currently have a cape, which I like but I'd love a colonial or an big farmhouse! I hate all the cookie cutter victorians that keep popping up everywhere. I also like crafsman styles!

Re: Dream House Question
Funny thing is I am so bad with styles of homes the only one I could identify were splits and hi ranches. When we bought our house and people asked what style it was, I had to go back to the listing to see that its a colonial.

Re: Dream House Question
We would love either a colonial or a ranch. Because if we got the ranch we'd expand on it and make it HUGE!!!
I'm really lucky because DH is so handy and loves doing around the house projects. Plus all his family and friends own landscaping/brick/tile/etc companies so once we get our condo and co-op sold we are on the house hunt and gutting out to start from scratch!!

Sounds like what we are embarking on. THANK GOD FOR FIL (home contractor/carpenter) & ALL OF HIS HOOK_UPS ETC. Thank goodeness Dh used to work with him he picked up alot about home renovating. Best to start from scratch & make it your own rather then spend crazy money then do it all over because lets face it everyone wants to make their home their own.

I too always thought English Tudors were so beautiful but the rooms tend to be small & thats what turned me off. Wah
