Has anyone everyone been to a dry wedding? We are going to one tomorrow and just wanted to know your thoughts.

Re: Dry Weddings
My thoughts... Bring a flask! It's going to be a long night without it. (although I might be saying that because I could really use a drink right now!)

Re: Dry Weddings
Yes. My brother and his wife had a dry wedding this past July. It was a daytime garden wedding. The only alcohol was a champagne toast. They offered a tea bar with different iced teas, flavored syrups, and boba (tapioca pearls) instead of booze. It was a lovely and delightful wedding.
Why is alcohol necessary for a good time?

Re: Dry Weddings
It would be a little bit of a bummer because I do like to loosen up and drink at weddings. But overall I wouldn't really care, I don't need to drink and I'd have just as good a time without it personally. I'd still dance & eat & have fun. My husband too, he barely drinks anyway when we go out so he probably wouldn't even notice.

I know we will have a good time regardless of whether alcohol is served or not, but I am not going to lie I would prefer a drink other than water, coffee, or tea.

Re: Dry Weddings
I have never been to a dry wedding. Personally, I like to have a drink at a wedding....but overall I'm usually there to see the couple get married, not to get wasted. I think it will be great!
I do think that at a wedding guests should be entitled to a drink....but not eveyone wants alchohol served. I was ADAMANT about NO alchohol at any time before my ceremony....I felt it was something everyone should be sober for. (the cocktail hour and reception were antother story though ) Perhaps this couple feels it should be that way for the whole event.
Also, not everyone has the budget for it.....and I have a lot greater respect for having a dry wedding than I do for a cash bar.

DH and I are going to one tomorrow too!! There's a bar at the hall, but it's part of the hotel not the reception room so we will have to leave the wedding and buy our own if we want! It kinda stinks if you ask me!!

Print this our and take it with you. (they say it is the thought that counts)
I think a dry daytime wedding might be ok, but I like a drink or two to loosen up at a wedding.

Re: Dry Weddings
i was at a dry wedding in the south one time (the family was strict southern baptists) and not only was there no alcohol....no dancing either! they had some lite elevator music playing, but you weren't allowed to dance cause that's just too 'sexual'
yeah we got shiiiit faced at a bar after that wedding
unless it was for a religious reason--i don't understand the concept of a dry wedding. no, you don't HAVE to have alcohol to have a good time, but why deny it to your guests who want to have a good time with it? i would deal if i went to a 'dry' wedding, but i wouldn't like it as much. (and trust me, i'm not a big drinker--but its nice to have 1 or 2 to loosen yourself up)
