do they sell anything over the counter that is like a muscle relaxer? My shoulders are up to my ears. The tension in my bad is so bad that I feel like something is going to snap. I have no $ for a massage right now.

awww---yeah i think it does. but if your back is that bad---i'm not sure it will give as much relief as a real muscle relaxer. but my mom used to use that when i was a kid all the time for back pain

My mom had really back neck pain so i stopped by the Pharmacy and picked up a box of heating pads for her as well. I dont remember the name of it but its the ones you 'pop' open and can leave on for up to a few hours...sorry if that doesnt help much.

Come visit me Caroline...I have like umpteen viles because of the damn herniated disk.
But for OTC hmm Aleve maybe? I think thats pretty strong. I usually use 4 motrin. 800mg

I would second the motrin suggestion. Also, you might want to buy a heating pad to place on your back. Another thing that usually helps is a hot shower because it helps release the muscles. Hope you feel better!

Ok, I'm back. I went to CVS & spent $41. How the hell does that happen?
I went with the Doan's pills. No idea what magnesium salicylate tetrahydate is but I'm willing to take a shot. wish me luck!
