Eczema help

Does anyone suffer from this condition? I started having eczema last year and I don't know what to do anymore. Any advice?

You really should see a dermatologist..but where is it? If it's on your hands or feet or even legs/arms...you can use vaseline (old school kind in the jar) or an aloe based lotion..and slather it on and then cover with saran wrap and sleep with this on. It's wierd but it works! At least for me.

Thank you! I've tried the Vaseline and I see a dermatologist regularly and he never has a straight answer for that, he gives me some cortisone cream which is the only thing that helps but as soon I stop it comes back. I usually have in my eye lids and my arms, it's so annoying

oh and I tried the aloe and it burned even more, maybe because it had some alcohol in it. Where can I find pure Aloe? Should I buy the leaf that they usually seel at the supermarket?

I started getting it this year. I have Dishydrosis eczema. I only get it on my hand. It's really nasty. I get these bumps under the skin, then they turn brown, then my whole hand starts peeling. I went to a dermatologist and she said I will be on steroid cream the rest of my life. Let me know if you want the name of it or have any questions.

I am surprised it doesn't help you my dermo recommends this. It should be mixed though with a special cream ..thinking a cortisone cream.

ETA - I agree also with Val.. aveeno oatmeal bath can help

Re: Eczema help

my step son has eczema and DH said its an allergic reaction to something and ppl arent always sure what it can be a reaction to (environmental, food, etc) so best bet is to get an allergy test and after that you have to stay on top of it with either low level steroid creams if you need to get it under control and bathe (in a bath) and apply some sort of petrolium gel afterward to seal in moisture.

Re: Eczema help

I have it on the inside of my elbows, and i used to have a dry patch on my face but it went away. my derm gave me samples of some cream but they never seemed to help.

i did have something random that totally got rid of the patch on my face, and that i should start using on my elbows again... it's velocity body lotion by mary kay, and it's a clear gel. a roommate had it and i tried it on my eczema and it helped a lot more than the stuff from the derm.

You can buy it on ebay

Re: Eczema help

Thank you ladies! I've been arguing with my doc that it may be allergy but he says that allergy is very difficult to identify and I should be my own detective. He told me to change my pillow case and bed sheets every other day , don't wear makeup(which I usually don't) and be away from nail polish etc...I've done all of those things and still arrgh

Re: Eczema help

I have suffered from eczema for my entire life! So I have tried a bunch of creams. My skin has been so bad that I've had to cover skin for years before it cleared up. One of my doctors said that stress is a big cause for eczema- she said she suffered the worst with it during her med.school years and the only thing that worked for her was this ointment called Bag Balm. Now it sounds gross if you've never heard of it, but it's used on cows, but I swear it works! It really helps to clear up my eczema and any other skin thing I may have going on.

Also, the one prescription cream that REALLY worked for me is Ellidel (sp?). I am running out and need to get to a dr. ASAP because the stuff is amazing!

If you have any questions, feel free to FM!
