Original post by tj2008

Does anyone suffer from this condition? I started having eczema last year and I don't know what to do anymore. Any advice?

Re: Eczema help

I had bad eczema on my eyelids what kind of soap are you using on your face? I started using the bar of Johnson and Johnson purpose - no more eyelid eczmea.

I also take baths in the aveeno calming powder - it helps my dry itchy skin when the seasons change

ETA: also be careful with cortizone and other steroids creams around the eyes - it causes thinning of the skin and wrinkles there- not to scare you, just want to warn you of excess use.....

Thank you so much! Actually my mom was telling me to wash my eyelids with regualr baby johnson and johnson shampoo because thats what her eye doctor told her to do so today I'm buying it. I gotta try the Aveeno bath thing too I love Aveeno stuff.
And yes I'm very scared of cortizone because they say its not safe to use long term and can cause glaucoma

absolutely.. please be careful on the cortizone and steriods creams anywhere.. DH has eczema and he uses dove sensitive skin and lathers on aveeno.. when he was a baby, his mom used to give him tomato juice but it helped it a lot.

I used to use the baby shampoo - it helped for a little while. All I can tell you is that it did end up being an allergy. I went to soooo many doctors and had lots of allergy tests done.

They told me it was nail polish, make up, lotion, everything. The skin around your eyes is reallllly sensitive so it can really be anything. I ended up doing process of elimination and it was my face soap and shampoo!! While I didnt use makeup or lotions - I never stopped washing my face! Who knew?? Im allergic to sulfates in shampoo and soap. Its in all soaps and shampoos so I use mostly all natural stuff.

FM if you want more info - I'd be happy to help..
