Re: EEEEEEEEEEW

I did have a student 2 or 3 years ago tell me that in ' his country' ( I dont know which one it was) that it was normal to eat dogs and everytime he went home to see his grandparents he had it and it was good.

I stood in front of my classroom in complete awe and shock

That's the grossest thing I've ever heard.

THAT is officially 'what's grosser than gross!'

just to play devil's advocate a little...but it's no grosser than eating veal or lamb or duck...I mean, I really am grossed out by eating any kind of meat, which includes dogs, of course...I just don't think there's any real difference between animals other than that people are used to thinking of some as 'food'

for example, I have British friends who are not at all grossed out by haggis (sheep's stomach filled with intestines) or black pudding (congealed blood), but totally grossed out by eating a pig's foot (another traditional Chinese dish). it's all relative (and all kind of gross to me)

JMO!

Oh ITA, BUT this was different, they had the bodies of the dogs roasted and hairless on the sidewalk. If it was meat like steaks, etc. i dont think i would have been half as grossed otu by it.
Imagine a dogs head....roasted like a pig roast sitting on a table on the side of the road horrible.

ETA: And I have a dog~the kind of dog they use for breeding to do this and thats probably why it bothered me the most
