Embarrassing newlywed question...BUT

Who here still uses protection? I'm just so scared to get pregnant now in my life, but I feel kind of silly. I'm just curious if anyone else feels this way. I do use the pill, but I'm paranoid.

OMG! I am the SAME way! I've posted about this before because I am sooo paranoid. You are not alone on this one!

me too! We double up (pill & condom) cause I am infinitely afraid of getting pregnant. Luckily so is DH so he is a-ok with the extra protection (he even jokes about adding in a third BC method!)

LMAO!! Yeah ...Dh wants to '86' the protection but I keep freaking him out with the possiblity of something going wrong and me getting pregnant.
Uhh..I would like to get rid of the added protection but I can't seem to get my head into it

our opinion has always been that if it happens, it happens. Of course, we tried our best (and succeeded) in making sure it didn't happen.

Now, when we talk about it, we have a lot less anxiety over the possibility of an 'oops'!

I am on the pill and sometimes we use a 'backup method' Honestly though, I am really not happy on the pill anymore (negative side effects) and I am going to ask my gyno about other options.
We want to start trying for a baby in about a year, so I am not really sure what my options are.

Same with me. I am so tired of being on the pill I just can't stand taking it anymore. We don't want to try for at least a year also, but I would be nervous about gettig preggo if I stopped it now. I wouldn't even know which 'backup plan' to look into.

I agree with all you ladies that's why I recently switched over to the

NUVA RING.

It's fantastic. You don't have to freak out if you miss a pill like birth control pills. All you do is put it in and 3 weeks later you take it out and that's the week you get your period.

It's been 6 months now and I will never go back to the pill. My Gyno recommended it and she's even using it. If you have any questions send me FM.

NUVA RING ROCKS!!!!!

Me three. I've been unhappy with the pill for awhile (negative side effects for me too), and we've gone back and forth between condoms and the pill and different pills, but we're not happy with any of them. However, we'd like to wait at least a year as well. My prescription's up in a month or two, so I'm def going to explore my options then.

Re: Embarrassing newlywed question...BUT

I first started taking the pill when I was 15 to regulate my periods... so since I've been taking it for 6 years now, I guess the 'every day thing' is just as regular as brushing my teeth to me...

But yeah, I've never had it fail... and DH and I have only used a condom...about 3 times? and that was because I was sick and on antibiotics (which are proven to lower the effectiveness of the pill)... and it should also be noted that we've been active and doing this nothing but the pill protecting since 2003...

So yeah, 3 years of no babies and nothing but a lil ol' pill ta night :)

I'm too scared to try the NUVA ring, my sister-in-law's friend had ananeurism (spelling?) related to some clots caused by the nuva ring... and she's only a year or two older than me, so I'm going to stay away until more doctors verify it's actually ok. Just my personal opinion though.

I was on the shot until last month. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!!! Now, we're just using other methods for a few months to calm my body down before TTC.

I just went off of the pill. We have been thinking more and more that we want to start trying for a baby soon. We are going to try charting for a few months (til I can go on DH's insurance b/c mine blows)

But to answer your question, I have always been afraid of getting pregnant, ALWAYS! I mean, it always scared the crap out of me, way more than it scared DH. It was kind of weird actually.

We also 'double up' most times... It is just not a good time to have children for us with DHs new job...If it happens, it happens and we would love our baby but if we can prevent it for a few years it would be great

Re: Embarrassing newlywed question...BUT

I stopped taking BCP right after the HM (around November) and got PG in Feb. We were just 'seeing what happens' and if it didn't happen by June I was going to start charting and paying more attention to my cycle. I'm glad I didn't have to do that. But we were ready for a baby.

Same here! We double up. We want kids, but not yet. We need time to enjoy our marriage. It is our time to be selfish, b/c once kids come our lives are going to change completely.
