Engagement Gifts
Anyone receive something special? I am looking for an idea that is creative and different in addition to a monetery gift. Not looking for a basket of planning godies or something (she already got that!). Plus, most of her wedding is already planned and she has't even had the e-party yet. It is for a family member.I was thinking of a gift certficate to get the invite framed or bouquet preseved and displayed - but not sure where? Something a bride may not already of thought of.

Re: Engagement Gifts
Are you looking for something just for the bride? or for both of them?

Re: Engagement Gifts
I really like your ideas already...do you have price in mind?A couple of inexpensive ideas:
The bridal name change gift (a vendor on here) - my friend said it was great when I gave it to her...
A silver marriage certificate holder was a nice gift for us
But like I said, I really liked your ideas...

Re: Engagement Gifts
Those are great ideas!!! I know a place in Islip that does that called: Personally Yours, it's on main street in Islip. The owner is very nice, I had my invitations done there and absolutely loved them. The hours of operation are Monday to Friday
10 - 5pm and it's only open from like 10 to 5 on Saturday too.........good luck, what a great idea!!!!

Re: Engagement Gifts
It doesn't have to be for both of them - it could be more for the bride. Ideas for either would be fine.I am open to spending a couple hundred dollars on thh gift.
(PS Marnles - I like the name change thing too!)

Re: Engagement Gifts
One of my favorite gifts I ever gave (and you might want to get another person in on this gift) was that wbe bought someone a very nice mahogony wine cabinet and included about 10-15 bottles of wine it. We went to things remembered and had dog tags engraved to say things like 'Your first house', 'Birth of first child' and such and then put them on a chain and hung them around the bottles in the chest.

Re: Engagement Gifts
I did a similar wine gift - not as much as DLW's...for a shower...but you could do it for an e-gift...(I got the idea from this site)I bought a wine holder (4 bottles) and got very nice wine...don't get less expensive ones here...b/c they'll want to celebrate these special occasions..
then on each of the bottels I labelled..
for your first night
for your first fight
for your first holiday
for you first anniversary
