Engagement Party Gift ?

Engagement Party Gift ?

DH & I are invited to an engagement party for one of my good friends. Due to family things I am not sure if we are going to be able to make it to the party. If we can't make it we want to send a gift. What would be a good gift to give? I am drawing a blank. TIA

Something for the home maybe. Do they have a registry?

i keep posting about this but it was by far my favorite gift we got!!! Its from hallmark, its a pre-made scrap book, that starts from the e-party and goes on to the wedding, its freakin awesome!!! all you do is fill in the pics, and its big like a wedding album and leather, so you could leave it out on a coffee table.. I think it was around $50. they don't have it online, but they have it in the stores. Out of all the gifts I got through the entire process, this was the coolest one!!!

we've sent gifts from the registry if we can't make the e-party. if they're not registered, a gc is always nice

A GC to Macys or BBB. Some wine glasses and a bottle of wine or champagne.

I would suggest either getting them something from their registry or a GC to a store where they are registered.

The scrapbook is a nice idea, but only if she's a scrapbook-ey type of person. Personally, I'm not. I lack the time, energy & patience for it.

Wine glasses, toasting flutes or candlesticks are nice too ... but much nicer if they're the ones she registered for

(sorry, i guess i was just one of those brides who really didn't appreciate getting things picked out for me when i took the time to register at 3 different stores to make it convenient for everyone to buy me something within their price range that was of my taste. flame away )

Just to clarify, Patty in case you thought the scrap book might be work, its all ready made for the bride, all she does is put her pics into the album, and she can take credit for the work!!

kinda along the lines of this idea, i saw this book when i was in key west and thought it was the cutest thing. it's a little story and then at the end the bride and groom fill out pages in the back

I completely agree. I'm just think if they haven't registered yet. DaveandJess - love that idea and sign. I had no idea Walmart personalized. Thanks so much!

I LOOOOOOOOVE this sign idea!! My mom actually made us one and I LOVE it!!!

I kind of agree with Jess about the scrapbook but more b/c we dont really have any pics from the shower, rehearsal dinner, we didnt do epics, etc. so at least for us it would be a waste. If you think she is a picture person its a great idea.

One of the nicest things we got was a personalized frame with our date on it...I couldnt wait to get my wedding pictures back so I could finally put something in it.

We're going to one in a few weeks and we got them a set of martini glasses since they drink all kinds of them and don't have a set (they only registered for TVs and Xboxes and Wii's at Target, so I'm kind of going against the grain with them...)

A month ago was my friend's engagement party. I got her the bride&groom toasting flutes and the cake knife set for her wedding (from David's Bridal), and since it was in a restaurant, also $$.

Someone gave us Tiffany candlestick holders. They were something I would never register for (I was being practical and Dh and I had nothing) byut they are GORGEOUS and I love them. I can't wait to finish work on our dining room so I can display them.
