Hi guys I am thinking of getting certified in doing eyelash extensions. The problem is that its VERY expensive and I would have to charge a lot for the application. I was wondering if you would help me by telling me if you would be interested in this and if so would you be willing to spend 2-300 dollars on it. Im just trying to see if it would be worth it to me. Thanks guys I know I can count on you all

Re: Eyelash Extensions!!
i think it's a cool thing to have a certification in...especially that you're in manhattan. there are definetly people who want them. imho, they're not for me. a good friend of mine got them and they were so much maintenance! she had to wet and comb them in place everyday, and she still wore volumizing mascara over them.. BUUT..you're in the city. people will pay big bucks to get them!

Re: Eyelash Extensions!!
i know there was an '08 bride that had them done and they looked fabulous - a lot of the other 08'ers expressed interest, but i have no idea if people would pay to have them done (i believe the bride that did it paid about $300 or so).
i personally would love it but wouldn't pay bc we just have other priorities, you know? but like mentioned above, i think there is a market for it and there are ladies who'd love it and pay for it!

i think for someone to pay 2-300 to have them put on, i'm assuming it costs way more than that for the cert.

Re: Eyelash Extensions!!
No the cert is like 1500-2000 The actual extensions are 2-300 for the customer to pay. They say that they stay on for a couple weeks but I really dont know much about it quite yet.

Re: Eyelash Extensions!!
hey stacey!
honestly- id steer clear of these... they look AMAZING! and i know its very convienent bc you only have to have them applied every month or however you let them last....
BUT!!!!!!!!!! i know someone who did this and all her natural lashes FELL OUT! the glue has a chemical in it that burns the lashes out and then you have no choice but to use these... to this day she applies false lashes on herself bc hers are ruined [and she did this 2 years ago] and hasnt been the same
idk, i personally think id hold off for a little while before investing in the certification.. im a nys licensed esthetician [obviously not practicing] and i fell into so many of the certifications that i did nothing with bc the hype died quick.
either way, i think youll do fine.

had it done. It was nice for some time but it take a long time to perr-f-ect. It is not as easy to do as you think. If you have the cliental I think it is a great idea.
I think another girl on the NW boards does this. Her name is MrsPags .. I think..
I will have to go back and look. Anyway she might have some good advise for you

Re: Eyelash Extensions!!
hey- I have to go to work so right now I'll right what I can but pm me and later tonight I could chat more.
They are regulated my the state now so you have an esty, cosmo or medical license. If you have one of those your in luck
PM me for more info about training etc. As far as people paying that amount- I have no shortage of clients. It is very tedious and time consuming work. The places that charge cheap around the city and long island honstely do not do good work at all. I had gotten them done personally from about 8 different places some cheaper places and some super $$$$. I wont even get into the horror shows I have seen as people came tto me after going to other places.
It all comes down to how good the person is doing them. If they are done right you will actually see an improvement in the condition of your natural lashes over some time. I have clients that there own lashes got stronger AND longer. I would say I saw the difference after about 6 months of them wearing them. The reason is no longer putting on mascara and not using a lash curler which breaks your lashes. I am talking about one by one lash extensions- not the clusters that stay on a week or two- those are never good for your own lashes.
Improper application=damage good and proper application= no damage and possible improvement.
As far as the maintenance- its not so bad but its a personal thing. The look you get after they are on is no comparison to mascara. They really make your face pop, make you look fresh and give you a more 'polished' look.
Hope that helps some, sorry it's long but many people have misconceptions about them. I loveeee them even b4 I started doing them
edited to add: there are good quality products out there and some that are not so great. you don't want someone to use what products that they bought on ebay for 10 bucks on you- yeah it could be scary out there.
