If your DH has family outside of New York do you feel like any vacation you ever take for the rest of your life will be to go visit them?
DH and I have never been on a just the two of us trip together. The last trip we took, before we were married, was to NY to visit my parents and we never left Our next trip is to visit his family in January (we will definetely be leaving). DH, in his wonderful world, has trips planned to Ireland for weddings in 2009 and 2010. The itinerary is already being written up
So ladies with family OOT are we doomed to a life of visits as vacations?

It's only a 'vacation' if we stay in a hotel instead of with the relatives. That way we can run away if they start to get annoying.

LOL - I can relate. DH grandparent live in FL and his parents also have a house in FL (live there seasonal) - so whenever we have time off we take a vacation there but we try not to stay with them longer than 3 days because attitude starts flying after that. Same situation when we visit my folk in Hawaii - my mom gets really annoying after 3 days. However, since its Hawaii, we can tolerate her (we have no choice really)
