favor suggestions?

so far, the planning is going really well for our october wedding. however, i cannot come up with a favor idea. i've looked at every website, i've searched on the BHB board for old posts, i've asked friends, i'm desperate! nothing too outrageously expensive, but something tasty, or useful, & hopefully somewhat unique. am i being too picky? i cannot come up with any ideas, please help...

This is very inexpensive, but very time consuming. My friend's sister gave out tins of homemade fudge, wrapped in the same fabric as the bm's dresses. They were tied with ribbon and had a tag that said 'Sweet Beginnings'.
It was very original AND delicious!

I love the idea of mini maple syrup bottles for a fall wedding.

Re: favor suggestions?

We used the mini maple syrup bottles as favors for our wedding which was in September. They were inexpensive enough that we were able to give one per person. Everyone loved them!

I like the idea of maple syrup - I thought about that for our fall themed wedding, but we decided to go with wine bottles.

I also considered seeds or flower bulbs, since they are sometimes planted in the fall.

We made a donation to charity and put a scroll on each placesetting with a message. We made ours to American Cancer Society in memory of my dad.

What is your budget per favor?

My wedding was in October and I had a lot of 'runner up' ideas for my favors.

Re: favor suggestions?

just a side note...

I got a small crystal water pitcher at a wedding...and all I can think of is...it was probably very expensive...but what a waste...I ended up selling it at a garage sale...b/c I never used it

Erica - do not get me started on all the favors I have thrown into the garbage! My personal feeling is that if it does not 'add' to the decor/theme/feeling of your wedding or reflect something specific about the couple or its something original - there is no point.

Re: favor suggestions?

The reason we did the donations was because of how many favors I have thrown out. It was for a good cause and many people complimented me on the sentimentality of it. Plus, the scroll wrapped in ribbon dressed up the table nicely.

Our wedding was in October and we gave out seed packets from plant a memory We wanted a favor that people would use and also I liked the idea of giving a favor that would bring life. I wanted to do the trees, originally, they are really neat.

Re: favor suggestions?

I really liked the favors at my bridal shower (one of the only things I liked...but I regress)

my sister and her artist friend painted flower pots in my colors...and flowers on the front

then they planted impatience in them...

You could do somehting to this effect on a more polished scale for the wedding...

stef...I feel awful getting rid of the favors...but what am I going to do with them...I almost get a little guilty thinking that someone is thinking about that with my favors...but you made me feel better...b/c they matched the decor of the wedding!! and plus you can burn the candle

We gave out several favors. We had heart-shaped candles in a heartshaped dish, personalized hershey bars & placecard frames. I think something edible is always a good bet because at least its something they can enjoy.

We did the maple syrup but in bigger bottles than the ones shown. They also looked great on the tables, all the guests loved them!

Re: favor suggestions?

Edible favors is the BEST WAY to go!!!!
We did a cello bag with all types of old fashioned candy that were give out at the end of the evening- we wrapped them off with ribbon and had cards printed off that said 'Thank you for making this a happy evening and a true gathering of friends, Love Dina & John.'
Then my cousin made ceramic flower candy dishes and filled them w/ candy- i really didn't want them but she INSISTED on making them.
