How do DH and I go about our finances now? Should we have our own individual bank accounts as well as a joint one? What about figuring out how to pay bills, etc.??? I'm confused! Any suggestions?

My DH and I have a joint savings and a joint checking. We also both have our own checking accounts. Our salary goes into the joint and then we allow ourselfes X amount of $ every month for our own. My DH also has an internet business and I am in the process of becoming a real estate agent, so we are going to want our own accounts for certain things.
Everyone I know yells at me because the two of us have our own accounts and can spend the money in it no questons asked, but we just trust each other. Whatever you guys think work is what you should do. What works for one couple may not be the best for another.

We have joint checking and savings accounts. I pay certain bills and he pays the others.

This is what we do too. It works for us. But you really need to discuss with DH what works best for the 2 of you. This doesn't work for everyone, some people prefer to keep their finances separate, there's no right or wrong way.

I thought Id be super anal and want everything separate because Im a freak about saving money. But, DH has pretty much the same attitude when it comes to saving and stuff so we are doing everything joint.
