Sooo on some of the threads I've talked about mine and DH's financial game plan...
While it's been an adjustment having one of us (aka DH) manage the finances AND put both of our salaries into joint checking and savings, I am happy to say.........
We only have 2 credit cards left with balances! We'll be debt free by February
AND....we've canceled all but 2 credit cards each. As much as it's not the best thing for your credit score to cancel accounts, we strongly believe that we will have LESS debt in the long run and will be saving more.
I can't even tell you how good it feels!
Those of you going through finance drama-I promise it will be worth it!
Hopefully this will inspire all the girls going through the 'finance conversations'.
You can do it!!

Woohoo, what a great feeling!!! DH and I have quite a bit of credit card debt...the result of moving into Manhattan when we were young and stupid and had no money. We are slowly paying it off, but I can't wait until we have it all GONE!!
Yayy Jen!

Re: Financial Freedom!!!
What have you ladies done to pay it down? I have been paying down my debt for almost a year, and feel like I haven't even made a dent. It is credit card debt. I try to pay a little more than the min each month, but can't afford to do much more. It is high!! The result of moving in together when we were young & broke & in college. And some wedding expenses. I don't even use it anymore. I just pay every month. The finance charges are killing me. Any advice. I wish I could pay a small amount a month for a long time, but at least I could afford the payment, and not feel like it is hanging over my head each month. Any advice??

Re: Financial Freedom!!!
Feels so good, doesn't it? We've FINALLY come to the point where we say if we want something and don't have the cash for it right away, we have to WAIT to get it. It stinks but it makes your purchases so much more valuable to you!

Have you looked into transferring your balance to a no interest credit card? That could help with the finance charges.

Re: Financial Freedom!!!
That must be such a relief. I myself am working on getting rid of my credit card debt. I can't wait until that is gone. I haven't used credit cards in over a year and it was definitely a huge adjustment!
