Tomorrow I go back to my doctor to follow up on my appointments. I am still having some pain so we have to explore what the problem is. The fiber seems to be helping but not enough, so it could be so bad it requires medicine to fix or it could be something else. Hopefully its nothing serious, but then why am I still hurting almost 3 months later.
You guys have been great support by the way, so thanks.

Did the Dr. ever give you a diagnosis? If it is something like IBS it is chronic and episodic. Hopefully you get an answer.

No, no diagnosis. They didn't find anything during the colonoscopy, so that was good, but it also meant they still haven't diagnosed me.

Re: Follow Up Dr. Appt tomorrow
So I went to the GI. Now they are thinking its IB. They said that would explain why I gained 10 lbs in 3 months, without my eating habits getting worse, and all in my stomach. Plus the pain.
They are putting me on pills to help because sometimes fiber helps that but its obviously so bad the fiber isn't helping. Unfortunately now I can't get the pills because Health Insurance has to approve it. I already vented about this because I am pissed. I was so excited about having a possible way to feel better soon and now it feels like its on hold.
If I don't feel better in two weeks we are moving onto food allergy possibilities and then possibly back to gyno.
Girls I can't thank you enough for all your concern for me. I really have been freaking out. Not to mention all the time I spend on the couch in pain, its been great to have the LIW girls to talk to.

Do you mean IBS? In you other post you said the Dr. prescribed medicine...is the medicine donnatal? I take it and it really helps and is not too expensive if you have to pay out of pocket for a few pills. You may also want to consider taking a probiotic like Align.

Yes IBS, it wasn't donnatal, but probably similar. I will keep that in mind though if the health insurance gives me a hard time about it.
They are not sure thats what it is yet, but he thinks so. Since you seemed to have had it, did you ever have such bad pain that you couldn't get off the couch? And did you gain weight?

I have had terrible pain from it. Sometimes it lasts for long periods of time and then it will go away and I will be fine for several months. I never gained weight from it but it is probably b/c when I have a flair up I usually have diarrhea (sorry if TMI). Some 'home remedies' that help me are ginger tea and a heating pad. I also try to avoid foods that are hard to digest. If you can try to take a probiotic or at least eat yogurt it helps to balance the intestinal bacteria.I often have problems after taking antibiotic. Sometimes stretching helps me. You can also try Advil

Yeah see i have the opposite, constipation, which is probably why they put me on a different med. I have used the heating pad. Thanks for the advice. Hopefully this is what it is. I know its a pain, but better then having to eliminate gluten from my diet, or worse, it being gyno related. No gyno problems until after babies.

If its not IBS and the meds (if I ever get them don't help) then they will check for gluten allergies, which is what leads to Celiac sprue. But since i am gaining weight and not losing weight, they think its IBS.

i actually have celiac...and i know that they tend to misdiagnose IBS or Chrone's when it was the gluten all along....that's why i was curious if they covered that base. Although it may not be the case for you, if you have any questions on it in the future - feel free to FM me.

DH went through issues like this for a while, and testing turned up absolutely nothing.
He definitely doesn't have celiac's but went GF and DF / lactose free for a whole year and it completely worked.
He tried adding dairy back in and got ridiculously ill again. So he backed off. About a month before the wedding, he added gluten back in, and he's totally fine now.
Somehow he developed a dairy intolerance late in life. Still not diagnosed, but there was such overwhelming evidence.
The GF diet was tough, but we managed a whole year of it. You get creative and there are amazing networks of celiac-friendly forums, websites, and blogs out there.
I really, really hope you find out soon what's going on and that things get better, more comfortable, and you find a real solution!
