How are you preparing to be a mom? Are you taking any special vitamins, eating healthier than before, had check ups with your doc?? Any books, magazines etc. that you would recommend?
Any recommendation for a good ob/gyn??

Re: For those having babies soon or had one recently
i've been taking OTC pre-natals, charting. trying to eat healthier, but it's been a stressful couple of months, and i'm a total stress eater.
i did buy what to expect when you're expecting. i've only read the parts on TTC though. i also bought DH a book for the expectant father. i just hope he reads it!
def check out the TTC board on LIF. there is so much helpful and useful info on those boards.
good luck!!

Pre natal vitamins, attempt to eat healthier , exercises- nothing crazy if you have not been working out, walking at a nice pace is fine ( which is the one thing I have NOT been doing since the wedding) , cut back on coffee ect
If you really want to , you can chart your periods to figure out when you ovulate and have a TON of sexy times
www.ivillage.com - has a fertility chart and support group
good luck

I agree TTC boards are very good. I am not activly TTC yet but there is a lot of info. Right now I am taking a multi with at least 400 mg of folic acid and omega 3 vitamins. They say to be taking those vitamins or pre natals at least 3 months prior to TTC.

One piece of advice...I have a 6 year old daughter... Don't read too much...especially What to Expect when you are expecting. A great book was 'The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy' The other books really scared me...

Re: For those having babies soon or had one recently
Well for preparation we both changed our diets and started to eat super healthy. Dh blood pressure went down dramatically after I put him on fish oil pills and a multivitamin. It went down so much that we were able to take him off his blood pressure medicine!!! I took a multi vitamin that I bought at a health food store, its organic and super pricey but its worth it. I made sure it had 100% daily of folic acid!
My dh is lactose intolerant and he was drinking soy milk...we took him off the soy milk because rumor is...it causes infertility.
I am reading What to expect when your expecting! Great book and it has everything you need.
My doctor is affiliated with suffolk obgyn and located in Smithtown........fm me for the name.

I was very paranoid...and I found that when I read something, especially negative that could happen, I started thinking that it was going to happen. The other book is great. It tells you everything you need to know, without freaking you out.
