For those NOT TTC...just curious

I had a dream the other night that I had twins. We are not TTC anytime soon (years from now actually). When I told DH about the dream it freaked him out.

So, here's the question, what if you were not TTC and you ended up pregnant? Would you be happy, would your DH panic???

Just curious....

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

If we wound up Preggers then we would just have to deal because it was meant to be. We aren't TTC for another 1-2 years... (closer to 2 years).. so it would be a shock- but we'd manage.

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

Funny because we aren't anywhere near TTC either and I had a dream last night that I was in labor.

I think at first I would panic and be upset, but I think I would be okay with it after a while...but it would be a big adjustment. I think DH would handle it better than me.

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

I think my husband would freak at first. But, then about a minute later would be in tears & would ask if I told our son!

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

I would be thrilled,as I wanted a HM baby.
Hubby wants to enjoy being husband and wife first, so we decided to wait a while. I hope not a full year, but we'll see. ?
I think If I were preggers now though, he'd freak out at first, and then handle it.

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

I think I'd be happy AND panic. A few months ago I had this irrational fear I was pregnant - I don't know why but I was somehow convinced (and fearing) I was preggo. I delaying telling Al cause I thought he'd freak. But I finally shared my fear with him and he was SO great! We went to the drugstore to get a test, but I then chickened out and figured I'd just wait it out (I wasn't pregnant).

But I was surprised by his reaction because I know he wants to wait awhile (as do I). He was totally supportive and not panicked.

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

I would not be happy at all.

Im of the mindset that you should really want children and be sure before you take the plunge. I know many poeple tell me that there will never be a right time - and thats okay. If there is not a time when i feel ready for a child, then i will just not have children. This decision not only effects us but also a whole new human being.

Its a very important DECISION and not something I would want 'fate' to make for me.

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

I think the answers all depend upon the couple's reasons for not TTC in the first place.

If a couple ABSOLUTELY wants kids someday, but accidentally gets PG sooner than planned, I think it's a bit easier for them to change their plans around, and ultimately be very happy welcoming the blessing into their lives.

However, if a couple has very strong DOUBTS that they ever want to have children in the first place, I think it would be devastating for them, if they accidentally conceived a child.

I want babies, but not yet.

We would BOTH freak, then accept it and be happy.

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

If I was to end up pregnant without TTC since our plans are to have children years from now, my DH would be absolutely excited. Everytime that I am late with a period or something he gets excited.

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

Stef, I agree with you. It is something I don't feel I'm ready for now and I'm not sure when and if I will be. And I take every precaution to make sure 'fate' doesn't make any of my decisions for me as far as getting pregnant.

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

We would not be happy. Right now we are living with our parents since our home is not finished being built yet. We wanted to liv in our house for at least a year, and have alone time before even thinking about kids. I think I would freak more then he would though.

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

We are not TTC for another year 1/2 or so (I have to finish school) I would be happy if it happened now but I know DH would freak at first. He is really nervous about being a dad. He's never really been around little kids. I put my nephew in his arms and he holds him out like he's got s**t on him or something. It's really funny

He would freak but I think then he would be happy. I however would be thrilled. We both agreed to wait until at least after the summer next year to try.

We would both freak.

We do not want kids for another 2 years.

We are very happy with our life the way it is.

Of course if it were to happen, we would accept it and deal.

We would panic at first, then be thrilled. But we've also been married over two years already so we've at least had some of the alone time we want.

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

I agree with Claud ... it depends entirely on the couple and their desire to have children period.

I would probably be a bunch of emotions - shocked, nervous, excited, unsure, etc - but overall happy.

We want children - we just wanted to wait a little bit longer - but if it's 'in the cards' sooner - then so be it!

Re: For those NOT TTC...just curious

This is a GREAT question!

DH and I both want kids, however, we plan on TTC around the mid-end of 2004. If I did end up pregnant before that, I think we'd be very happy, with a little bit of freaking out in our minds!
