For those NOT TTC...just curious

Original post by christy

I had a dream the other night that I had twins. We are not TTC anytime soon (years from now actually). When I told DH about the dream it freaked him out.

So, here's the question, what if you were not TTC and you ended up pregnant? Would you be happy, would your DH panic???

Just curious....

If it happened we would both be nervous but excited! But we aren't officially trying to conceive yet. I too had a pregnancy dream recently where I gave birth to a son but it was just a dream b/c nothing has happened yet.

we totally panicked and freaked. for like many hours. and then the panic went on for me for around 2.5 months. he settled into it VERY quickly.

i remember one thing he said that was so amazing. we went to bed that night and he said - this is going to be so great. it must be time for us to start focusing on life and family instead of business and success. he has a great way of spinning things into the positive. since he said those words, he just signed on i guess.

i had a lot harder time. i dont' recommend surprises if you can help it. although i do believe that any couple that got married out of love, would deal with it from love. regardless of decisions you would make, you'd do it as a loving couple. It certainly brings the 'couple team' closer I can tell you that for sure.....

I agree with Both Stef and Claud on this one.

I think for us, we would both freak out, but then deal with it. We are not ready for children nor are we planning for them anytime soon. We take the necessary precautions to make sure that getting pregnant won't happen. We're not even 100% positive that children are in our future, so we have no choice but to be extra careful.

That is absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!! My DH and I had our first miracle before our wedding!! Definately not what we had both planned... But sometimes you need to just rearrange your plans!! I love my little miracle, and would not have it any other way!! As far as the next one goes... We talk about everything, and still use contraceptives... so there should be no more suprises!!

If this had happened at the time when I was not ready, I would have freaked and Roger would have been too happy

I guess we would deal with it and make the best of it. I know that doesn't sound so enthusiastic, but we are TOTALLY not ready for kids yet. We both want them very much in the future, but are no where near ready...and like Stef said, I am not ready to leave this one up to fate. The decision is much too serious.

That may seem selfish, and to be honest, we are right now....

We decided we want to enjoy a few years years of married life alone, traveling as much as we can, and doing things just for us.

I can't wait until we both are ready to open our lives up to children, and I know one day we will....hopefully that day will include a house and a bit more financial security though

oh my god, i would be ecstatic! we won't be trying for several years as well, but i'm really looking forward to it.

however, there is so much i'd like to do before then.

We are not & will not be TTC and if we wound up pregnant that would be a real problem as I had my tubes tied last year.
