For those TTC

Just curious....did you guys go for a physical before you officially officially started or just your annual ob-gyn visit?

We're not there yet but just thinking things through and wanna do everything right!

Honestly the most important thing you can do is just make sure that whenever you think you're might want to TTC... try to start taking prenatals at least 3 months beforehand....

And then I mean... just try to be aware of what your cycle is like unless you plan to fully wing-it.

Understanding your cycle and that basically there's really only 4-5 days out of a cycle that you're 'fertile' is key.

no... but ive always had regular cycles... i always noticed EWCM, even if i didnt know what it was at the time... never had any problems with the lady bits... and i havent been on bc in like 100 years...

edited to answer your question- yes, i got off BCP then i went to the gyn to see what the heck was wrong with me. i was diagnosed with pcos. im so glad i did that BEFORE TTC

I mentioned it to my Gyno during my check up in August. She is also a fertility specialist. She told me to start trying right away (no need to wait a few months after my BC was stopped) and then to start prenatal vitamins. oh joy!

since i have an irregular cycle, this is the only thing that i can track, ECWM. Thats the only way I know im ovulating.

i had told my dr right before we got married that we wanted to ttc right away so she put me on prenatals. its a good way to get your body prepared for pregnancy. you can buy over the counter ones as well, they sell them everywhere. target has them cheap.
i didnt go for a physical though. i purchased a book called taking charge of your fertility which helped explain how your body works and how to read the signs your body gives. it was a good and informative book that def helped our ttc process

I'm due for my annual in May/June so I'm going to say hey, we're going to be TTC soon. See ya when I'm prego! (unless anything needs attn prior, of course)
I've been taking prenatals for a year anyway so, I got that covered.

The #1 thing that I can say to you is FOLIC ACID, FOLIC ACID, FOLIC ACID!!!

BTW I'm an OB/GYN Physician Assistant.. so therefore I bend the rules for myself

But I like when my pts come in and say that they are or are going to be TTC. I give them pre conception counseling and do a routine exam. Just incase anything is abnormal, it's better to have it worked up before pregnant. For example, abnormal pap smears, breast lumps, infections, etc..

Do you mean a regular physical or your annual OB exam? I went for my exam right before TTC, but I didn't get a physical from my general practitioner.
