Does DH give you a hard time about it? Mine doesnt cause he's also worried the IRS will come after him if I change my name to his. But he does give me a hard time when I tell him I want to hyphenate. I dont get the big deal

I haven't changed yet...no reason, just lazy lol. He did give me a problem with hypenating until my Dad told him that he was being 'old fashioned' but he pretty much knew I was going to do what I wanted anyway. I compromised and changed my legal name to his but am using both my last names with no hypen for work. He's ok w/ it now

Sometimes- but jokingly. he knows I don't want to take off work yet cus Im still new at my job. Why would the IRS go after you? i don't know about these things...

No my husband has no problem with it at all. My little brother on the other hand, gives me grief about it all the time. He thinks I should change it but as it's none of his business, he get s no say.

A hard time??? HA! My DH still gets freaked out when he sees my new name written anywhere!!!! Sometimes I think it still hasn't sunk in that he's married!

um, i don't think he wants me to change my name. I swear he wants to pretend that nothing changed - we just live together now.
he actually gave me a hard time (sort of) when i put his name on the marriage license - like 'i thought you weren't changing it?!?' I just rolled my eyes and said i had researched it and you can't change the marriage license once it's done and you are not obligated to change your name just because you put it on the license.

Ive had IRS problems since 2002. I just wanna be safe. I dont know if me changing my name to his would cause them to go after him but I dont wanna take any chances.

for some reason dh thinks this is such a big deal and that i must change my name. I guess he feels like we're not really a family unless we have the same name. I think i'm going to still use my maiden name for work though

dh would like for me to change my name.. he even fills out forms for me with a hyphenated last name... i had him open a bank account for me and he opened it with this hyphenated last name.. i promptly caled him and told him to change it.. .. he knows i hate that.. i always go behind him and cross his name out when he does that...
i have no intention of changing my name neither now or in the future.. he says he'd like for everyone in the house to have the same last name, so i keep telling him he's welcome to change his last name to mine.. cause i'm not changing mine.

I choose to keep my maiden name, however I told DH I'll consider adding his to my drivers license, with a hyphen. But I want to keep my maiden name as my legal name. DH use to give me grief about it all the time. However he has gotten use the idea. As long as his parents don't find out.

I had a REALLY hard time changing my name. But yes, my DH never came out and SAID anything but he would ask me like 4x per week if I had gone to Social Security, DMV, etc. When I started getting mail in my married name, he would have such a huge smile on his face!!

My husband told me it didn't matter to him, so when we filed out the marriage license I said I am keeping my name ( its a bit of a pain to change because of my profession). Well now he makes such big deal of it and says I can't change it now.. My dad thinks I should have changed it.. Oh well..

I am lazy to do it..he does remind me about once every 2 weeks...
my reasons are two fold
1. I am going from an uncommon last name to a very common one..
2. My father passed when I was 15 and I wanted to keep my maiden name around...
I get flack from all sides about hyphenating so I am going to legally change my middle name to my maiden name so I can still sign both names just without the hyphen....
