For those with a very large album...Started working on my album & have a few concerns please help

No kidding aside but I worked through 1500 proofs. I was working on my album last night with Fine Art Photography. I was there from 4pm till 12:30am.

We started out with 115 pages of my album. We cut down and are at 86 pages. Should I have one album of 86 pages or ask for two seperate albums. I'm concerend with the weight of the album. I held a 10x12 album of 26 pages and that was heavy but its also nice to have everything in one whole album.

What do you guys think I should do? I know for sure I don't want to cut down anymore.

Thanks!

I'm working with Patty. She is very nice and has a good eye for things . I'm also doing a black and white digital coffee table album. I think I will stick with having one album. I'm going back this week to finish up mine and then work on the parents albums. It soo hard when you have so much to choose from.

you mean there would be 43 sheets? I think that would be fine. heavy, sure, but I think nicer then having two albums. what does your photographer recommend?

I would keep it at one album.
I have my IL's wedding album, it's well over a hundred pages and it came with it's own carry case!!

there will be 86 sheets. The digital coffee table album will be all my black and white shots that tell the whole story in a more candid close up type shots. The album will be more of the 'traditional' type poses where as the coffe table will be the dramatic/candid typ shots like you will see a pic of just our hands together, a pic of hands fixing my bussle, my makeup application - a close up of my face with my eyes open lookin up while the blush brush is being swiped - its really hard to explain but i will derinetly post some pics I'm so proud of them :o).

hmmm, it's hard to say what to do, but my album is really big and heavy! In retrospect, if I had to do it again, I would have left a few not-so-important pics in. It would have saved me time and money!

Not the end of the world, but there are a few that I liked (shots of the favors, flowers in the hallway of reception, etc) that we didn't necessarily need. All together, we have 79 pictures, but with the thick pages the album is huge! No clue on how many pages though - but take your time to decide before you place the order. Just make sure the photos in there are what you both really want.

I was in the same boat as you when I started working on my album. I had 100 pages, it was going to be 2 albums and totally insane to carry and for others to look at.

Here is my opinion- again JMO...if you are having a digital coffee table book telling your story and you feel that you really need a traditional album that is not a part of the first one I would CUT down the traditional album. Put in ONLY your most loved, most special photos. I KNOW how hard this is to do. Trust me. I started out w/1800 proofs and had almost 300 photos in my album. Then I started my digital album layouts. I have also taken a few months doing this so you start to see repeated photos, photos that you love but are just not necessary in an album. I have been able to cut down on the number of photos based on taking a few weeks off from, taking a step back and re-evaluating. Also, I take into account the fact that I keep all my proofs, they do not go away or disappear. I can also frame some photos that I do not include in my album. But after you stop for a few weeks and take a look back you will be able to cut some out. You just need a bit of time.

Anyway that is my opinion.

I would have to say to try to cut down...

to be honest...you only need one picture of your bridal party members..not them on the aisle and coming in and then a separate shot of you with each...

also...have you broken up the pictures to different sizes? like dancing...you could do 3 or 4 on a page...

are you doing one pix per page?? are you not doing any composites?? I agree with Erica on the multiple pix of the same thing or same people.

Hi, we are considering using Fine Art for our wedding. How did your pictures turn out?

The size and weight was one of the reasons I decided i wanted the digital but if you have the traditional album: CUT IT DOWN! Its better to have an album that you are albe to carry with only your most loved photos than one that needs a handtruck with every photo you like. Remember - just b/c its not in the album, doesnt mean its not a good photo or its not an important moment...the photos will still be around. IMO, the only photos that belong in an album are ones that tell the story in a captivating way.

One easy way to cut down is to decide that the focus of the book is the couple. Limit the shots of everyone else to a very select few that happen to be an important moment. Cut down the posed shots as much as possible, etc.. You can use any criteria that works for you.
