Re: Forest Hills??? Park Slope??

I lived in Forest Hills (on the Rego Park border) for 2 years and my DH grew up in Park Slope. I have to say that I like Park Slope better, although it is more expensive and parking is tougher. I just felt that the restaurants were better in Park Slope, plus it's not too far from Smith Street, which I like. Not to mention the park nearby, which I like better than walking over to Flushing Meadows. As for the commute, as was said in other posts, it really depends on where you are going in the city.
Good luck in your apartment search.

We live in Parkslope, Brooklyn. We're fortunate to get a historic brownstone building close to the park. We love it. Its historic, picturesque, family oriented and have the best elementary school in the city.

We also have boutiques, mom & pop's store, restaurant row by 5th avenue and of course we have the Prospect Park.

FM me if you need more info

If i had to pick one out of the two to live in i would pick Park Slope over FH, even though they are both really nice areas. Park Slope is such a cute area and nieghborhood, its really artsy, and has amazing nice little cafes and resturants.

I guess i just like the atmosphere in Park Slope more than FH, it feels more like a suburb, and just a much more family oriented place to live.

Both my brother AND sister live in Forest Hills with their families. My sister lives in a condo and my brother rents an apartment. They both really love it.

I find that it is almost like a 'little Manhattan' that is the vibe it gives off to me. There is great shopping and GREAT food. Also, a few parks that my nieces and nephews REALLY enjoy.

It is also a quick commute to Manhattan. My only complaint is the parking ( where they live anyway ). But I am spoiled by where I live.

Exactly...I rented an apt. in a condo building in Forest Hills when I worked downtown and I LOVED IT!!! Lived on Austin Street whcih was great. Tons of shopping, restuarants, and when you hop on the E train which was a block away it was only 1 express stop to LEX and 57th I think... Rent was very reasonable...parking was a little bit of a hassle but other than that I say go for Forest Hills!
