So, just this morning, I felt a pea-sized lump in my right breast. Its VERY high up in my breast though... like almost closer to my underarm than my nipple, if that makes sense? I have never had anything like this and am not sure what to do? Can my primary care check this, or do I have to see my Ob/Gyn? I don't have an OBGYN out here yet, so if that's who I need to go to, I need to get one pronto! Has anyone experienced this?!

Re: Freaking out
I would say to call your primary and see if they can recommend you to someone. Usually I would say call your gyno but in this case you can't so call your doctor. Don't worry yourself yet, is it that time of the month for you? I think sometimes I feel something but I get cystic around that time of the month.

Yeah I get my period on Monday so maybe that could be it. I went home on lunch and made DH feel to see if I was hallucinating but he felt it, too.

Re: Freaking out
either your primary care or gyn should be able to see you on this- either will be able to see if it is something of concern.
not to get personal but are you close to your period? my gyn had recommended only checking for lumps, after my period, otherwise it could be just cysts from pms.
for you &

Re: Freaking out
don't freak (i know easier said than done - and i am a total hypochondriac as DH likes to say! )
i had a lump on my neck - i googled and swore i had lymphoma - turns out it was a swollen gland that went away after a few days - i did see the doctor and they were right - it went away and was nothing....but i totally freaked....
make an appointment with whoever you can see first - whether its your pcp or gyno.....im sure its nothing but its better to have peace of mind then to be thinking the worst!

Re: Freaking out
call your pcp just to be safe but as a rule you should always do your breast exam after your period...
the hormones that bring on our period also effect our breasts
i hope and its nothing

That could totally be it but give your doctor a call to put your mind at ease...keep us posted!

I use,for gyn, Funt, Okeefe and Porter in East Setauket. Your mother-n-law probably knows them. I have been going to them for 20 yrs almost. FM if you want their number. Otherwise, it could be enlarged lymph nodes also. You don't go for yearly gyn appmts? I had a scare a few yrs ago, so I am very routine about that. The PCP can help you otherwise.

Oh, no, of course I go for yearly exams! My last one was in November with my old GYN. Now that I live out here, I want to find an OB/GYN associated w/ Stonybrook. I am waiting for my SIL to get back to me b/c she's a labor & delivery nurse and knows all the docs very well. The group she wanted me to go to doesn't take my insurance so she needs to choose one from the list I gave her that do take my medical. Thanks, Suzanne!!!

Marisa - look into Dr. Christine Conway. I saw her a while back - she was my first doc. She used to be in mineola and then she moved to Stonybrook - and she may still be there. She was with University Associates in OB/GYN .. if she's still there she was GREAT.

OMG that is so funny! My SIL is good friends with her! She also has a child w/ Downs Syndrome like my nephew, so they talk all the time. Sadly, she doesn't take my insurance, either SO annoying! I hate my crappy insurance, but I guess I should be thankful I have any, right?!
