Free Credit Score Report

What's a website that will let you look at your credit SCORE for free. I don't want just a report, I want the actual score itself. DH and I need to put in an application for the apartment complex we want to rent from in California and we can only put one person on the application (there is a spot for a second person, but they don't ask for a SS# or anything like that). I'm a little bit nervous because DH makes more money than I do (and I won't be working when we live there), but his credit score last time we checked (which was 2 years ago) was 250 points lower than mine.

Be VERY careful with this website. I used it a couple of years ago and it automatically enrolls you in a faud alert program that charges your CC every month without you knowing (until u see it on your statement). I ended up having to cancel my CC to get out of it. Disaster!

Although they 'claim' to be 'free' you have to enroll in a 'credit protection program' to get your score. The thing they dont tell you in big print is that after 30 days you get charged monthly & it's like $30 a month charge - which unfortunately for me I didnt catch on to until like 3 months of being charged. The it was a HUGE PITA to cancel that stupid program.

Honestly, your best bet is to write to one of the major credit repoting bureaus (Equifax, TransUnion, (i forget the 3rd one)) & ask them to send you your credit report - you are allowed to do this 1 x a year for free. Atfer that you have to pay a few $$ - but I do not know how much.- To me this is a much safer way to get your credit score - you will not only get your score but also get the report which I think is a good idea just to make sure there isnt something on there that shouldnt be & that you need to dispute w/ a reporting agency...

I've never been able to get my credit score for free -- only my credit report.

I'm pretty sure you can get the reports but to get the score # you need to pay extra. I think it's like $15 or something.

That happened to us to, you just had to cancel and we needed to call them and fax them something. It wasn't that difficult, but I don't want to deal with all the hassle because I forget stuff and I'll end up paying anyway.

What do I have to do to mail stuff in? Is there a form or a link online or something?

you can get your 1 x a year credit report for free

you can also check out this link:
http://www.transunion.com/corporate/personal/consumerSupport/contactUs.page

and call transunion to find out if their free annual credit report comes w/score or not - & if not how much they charge to just get your score & what you need to do.
