Today's QOTD comes from my DH and I talking about job changes and residence changes.
If you or DH had a really great career opportunity come up that would require you to be away from the other for an extended amount of time (at least a year), would you take it?
My answer is no way. I would never want to be away from my DH for that long. I get whiny and teary when he's away for one week. However, I guess our situation is a bit different in that my career track is completely effed up and I have nothing tying me to staying here. So if DH was presented with a great job opportunity elsewhere and he had to stay there for at least a year, I'd just go with him. I guess I am lucky in that regard - in not having anything to really be tied to here.

We wouldn't do it for me. We might do it for him. I wouldn't like it...but he has far greater potential in his career than I do, and I'm still young, so it wouldn't put too much of a kink in our family plans. But it's highly unlikely that situation would arise.

Agreed. I went to DR for a week with friends a few years ago and was miserable and so was he. We vowed then that we'd never go away without eachtoehr for more than a day or two again. I know for us it would put a serious strain on our relationship and no job oppurtunity is worth that IMO.
