gift (or lack thereof) question
did anyone else have people attend their wedding, but not give them a gift? not even a card? we had several people do this, and i think it's incredibly rude and strange, especially since two of the couples are people who's weddings we went to this summer! i was just wondering if this has happened to others or if our friends are crazy.

Re: gift (or lack thereof) question
Unfortunately, there's been a lot of posting about this recently. I bet you'll find a lot if you do a search. Personally, I know that etiquette says people have one year from the wedding to give a gift, but, come on, what are these people thinking?

Re: gift (or lack thereof) question
Yes, I have several guest who attended and haven't yet sent anything. I've had a couple of gifts sent to us so far, so I will just continue to wait and see what comes in until our 1st anniversary. It is a little weird that 3 of my Bridesmaids haven't sent anything yet. We've been married 4 months now. Understandably there are those who are under financial constraints and can not give a gift but the ones I'm thinking about don't fall into that category. I guess some people think their presence is their gift!

Re: gift (or lack thereof) question
We had a few people come to the wedding and reception and not even give us a card. We also had people not show up after they said they were coming so we had to pay for them anyway.
Some people are incredibly rude!

Re: gift (or lack thereof) question
I had this as well. It is so annoying- these were the same people who lived at the bar all night and ate everything in sight.Don't get me started on bounced checks.

Re: gift (or lack thereof) question
Quite a few people have not even sent a card yet. A bit rude, in my opinion. Especially because some 2 of the people were in my bridal party!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have never heard of such rudeness. How do you go to a wedding and not even give a card??

Re: gift (or lack thereof) question
We had one person do that. She's a friend of mine though and was going through a tough time financially, and she told me she'd take us out to dinner as soon as she found a job...so I don't know if it counts. We were totally ok with it though.

Re: gift (or lack thereof) question
Suzanne!!! Same here! My MOH had the nerve to show up, no gift, card or anything, and leave halfway through the party! We also had a few others who came without anything....... and then there were the ones who RSVP'd 'yes' and didnt show, AND didn't leave a gift.
Some nerve!!!
