Gifts this year- Bad economy

With the economy being the way it is, how is your holiday shopping affected?

I know for me I am definitely looking for more deals then I did in the past. Going to more outlets etc.

We planned on cutting down, b/c we went waaaay overboard the last two years...so much that we couldn't even fit all the presents in the truck (for both our families)!

But this year w/ the wedding and everything we decided to cut back and DH's mom set a monetary limit on the amt we were allowed to spend on each person....but then DH just informed me the other day that his sister wants a 42' LCD TV!!!! WTH??? So I asked DH what about the limit? and he said well she doesn't want anything else and if we get her clothes she just won't wear it, he said it would be a joint gift from us and his parents (which still is 3x the limit) and he would fork over the rest!!!

Is this wrong of me to be pissed? Xmas is my favorite holiday and this totally puts a damper on things.

We are def. cutting down. We bought the kids in my family the Wii with my brother so that is the big gift and than smaller gifts for the family members, although I would have cut that out all together because of everything we have going on. We aren't going to exchange this year either..I think we are giving each other the best gift we can give but I can't reveal it yet!
