My brother asked me to be his 'best woman' at his upcoming wedding and I have the task of setting up catering hall appointments for them - they live in florida and are coming up in 3 weeks to see them. the wedding will be in NY in 05.my Future SIL wants to check out the thatched cottage and sans souci - any opinion on this place?
any other good ideas???
you would think after all the places I saw for my wedding, I woudn't need advice :)

Re: girls i need help
One of my friends got married at Sans Souci and it was probably the best wedding food I ever had. It is in Sea Cliff right on the water. I think she had about 150 guests and the room was full. It included centerpieces that could be upgraded. They have one event at a time.We went to look at Thatched Cottage but we didn't like it too much. The place and the views are beautiful. The menu is very extensive which of course you pay for. They have only one wedding at a time but there may be another event.
I think it's cool that you will be the best woman!!
The Riviera in Massapequa is similar in that it is on the water and has one event at a time.
What kind of things are they looking for?

I can't offer anything about either place because I've never been to anything there - I just wanted to say that I think it's cool that you and your brother are that close.Have fun helping them with all of their plans

Re: girls i need help
I think it's great that your brother asked you to stand beside him.I can't offer opinions on either place cuz I haven't been to them.
If they want to be on the water you can check out
Timberpoint CC in Oakdale
John Anthony's in Babylon(check into whether they have been bought yet)
The Harbor Club in Huntington(same owner as John Anthony's)
Giorgio's in Riverhead
Land's End in Sayville
That's all I can think of right now.

Re: girls i need help
I had my wedding at Sans Souci (ceremony and reception) and it was great. We got a lot of positive feedback on the facility as well as the food from our guests. And there were a number of guests from the hotel/hospitality industry, so they are pretty outspoken about quality & service.

Re: girls i need help
I really liked Thatched Cottage when I was looking - it was one of my finalist but it was a little further East and out of the way than I liked. I went to a food tasting and it was really good. The only thing I didn't like was the large room. The first time I went to look at the place - there was a party in the larger room so I couldn't check it out. When I went back the second time - it was a very awkward setup in my opinion and I kind of felt like it was in a basement. I really liked the upstairs room but it max at like 100 or 150 or something like that and I had over 175. I went with NRC and of course I recommend them. I think you have to find out more what they are into. I went to look at over 15 places when I was looking in all price ranges until I go a feel for what I wanted....
