Girls, I'm nervous...

Girls, I'm nervous...

I have that procedure today at 6 and I am SO nervous about it! Knowing that I am going to have my head held in a position that will force me to get dizzy... I am so afraid I am going to get sick and then we'll just have to try the whole thing again next week!!!

I know I should not think about getting sick or else it will happen, etc. but it's not easy. DH is coming with me and I am trying to think of things he can talk to me about or do so that I don't dwell on the dizziness feeling. It sounds weird, but I am almost tempted to have him like pinch me and stuff. You know when you have pain somewhere else, it takes your mind off your current pain or discomfort? UCK I don't know what to do. I need to stop thinking about this...

Sorry, I just needed to express my concerns to my fave girls

Don't be nervous. Just let them know what happens and maybe they can position you differently? Make sure they understand how severe it can get. I'm sure they won't want to have to redo the procedure either!

Aww i'm sure it will be ok!!!

Have DH talk to you about your wedding day, your HM, anything to take your mind off it.

Dont worry you'll be fine!!

I know a few people who've had this procedure done, including my 85 yr old grandmother! If she can make it through ok, so can you

Well, the whole point of it is to position your head in a certain way to MAKE you dizzy and then they turn it so you're looking straight up for 3 mins, then turn it all the way the other direction for 3 mins. It's a specific procedure so they can't position me differently, or whatever, KWIM? Believe me, I wish they could!!! My PT said if I get sick, I wouldn't be the first! They will have a little bucket or something there, just in case. Yay

You'll be fine...just think of it as something quick to make you feel better in the long-term. Only 9 min. of discomfot will give you much more comfort where your vertigo is concerned.

See if they can play some soothing music in the background?

Can you listen to an ipod to distract yourself?

Re: Girls, I'm nervous...

The problem is that really NOTHING is strong enough to distract me, the dizziness is THAT uncomfortable. It's hard to really understand it if you haven't gone thru it, but it feels like you're flipping and are weightless almost and even tho you KNOW you're laying flat on a table and you are really laying still, it doesn't feel that way at all. So music, even talking is not going to be enough to keep me distracted. That's why I might tell DH to keep pinching me or something I know it sounds so stupid but that MIGHT work!!

Call the office you're having the procedure at and see if it's ok to wear them. It might cause you NOT to get dizzy at all (if they work THAT well) and maybe that will interfere with the test? As in, you NEED to get dizzy in order for this to be corrected? Not sure at all, just something I thought of.

They are something I carry in my purse at all times so I will just ask the PT when I get there. She had told me I could take Antivert, also, but I am not going to b/c taking that my influence the way the head positions affect the crystals in my inner ear that they need to realign. I was gonna take a Xanax but DH hates that I take that so I am undecided. If I take it I prob wont tell him

For the seabands to really work, you should put them on a few hours before you'll need them, I think. At least that is what the box said when I got them for my bach party.

I am sure it will be fine. The anticipation is always so much worse than the actual event! Try to distract yourself today so you don't think about it all day long.

Don't be nervous, everything will be fine.

Take one of your favorite wedding pictures, and during the proceedure focus on the picture. Remember everything that went on around that picture, what happened before, during and after.

That should help take your mind off of your fear of dizziness.
