did you get letters from unemployment telling you to go to a job seminar and if you don't you will loose your benefits?? do i have to take any job they offer me?

Yes you have to go and they will stop the benefits if they don't go. If you end up having an interview or something at that time, you need to go before the seminar (the day or 2 days before is good) to let them know to reschedule you. They cannot give you a date, it's just automatic and you'll get a new one in the mail. I had legitimate interviews and did this and never had to go to a seminar. They are the most ridiculous courses too especially coming from the corporate world!

i never had to go to a job seminar...just visit the office and listen to them talk and show my resume etc.
but as far as do u need to take the job....here's what i found when i wanted to know the answer to that...
Be willing to accept the usual rate of pay for a person of your qualifications and experience AND Federal law says that states may not deny unemployment benefits to eligible employees for refusing to accept “new work,” if the “wages, hours, or other conditions of the work offered are substantially less favorable to the individual than those prevailing for similar work in the locality.”
What is an offer of “new work?” New work covers new assignments when the job contains different duties from those the employee agreed to in his or her contract. It also covers different terms or conditions of employment from those in the existing contract. If a new job offer consists of different duties than a prior job, it is new work. For example, if a person previously worked as a secretary, and is offered a job as an accounting clerk, this is “new work,” even if the same employer is involved. If the transfer or the new job is at $8 per hour, and the prior job was at $10 per hour, it is new work.

I've never had to go to any seminars while on Unemployment. I should be getting off of it pretty soon anyway, so hopefully I won't have to go to any in the mean time

You can't call to reschedule, you have to GO there and reschedule there. So dumb. So I will just go. GRRR.
