Our kitchen and hallways in our house don't have any carpet. When it was warmer out, we had bought a real mop and I was mopping the floor w/ a bucket and all - the 'old-fashioned' way LOL!
Now that its winter, that doesnt work! I was thinking of getting a Swiffer Wet-Jet - do any of you have them? How are they? I have been looking online to see what stores carry them and I can't find them! BB&B and Target don't have them. Walmart only seems to have the starter kit... I am not dead set on the Swiffer, I just need something similar so I can clean these floors!!!
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Re: Girls, what do you use on your tile floors?
i find that the swiffer is good if you need to do a 'quick clean up'... like if someone dropped something on the floor and now its sticky, or if there is a random stain - the swiffer wet is good.
HOWEVER - if you seriously want to do a clean up... i feel like the swiffer just pushes around dirt... i've learned my lesson and now when i really want to clean the floor i do it the old fashion way with a mop and bucket... i find that nothing beats that!

I really like the swiffer! I use it in my bathroom only, because it has tile floors. I have the wet cloth one though - you just put the wet cloths on the actual swiffer thing. You can use the dry ones with this thing too, but the dry DOES just push around the dirt - doesn't work for me at all. But for the tile in the bathroom, I think it cleans very well!!!

i agree that the swiffer is good for light clean up. But i usually end up using the liquid from the swiffer and a soft scrub brush and i get down on my hands and knees like Cinderella!

I have the shark steam mop, I love it. I use it on my bathroom floor everyday, and even the laminate wood in the kitchen.

I use a bucket and white vinegar or some type of cleaning solution.
We also have the shark steam mop and use that sometimes. (but I dont use it on our wood floors)
Lastly i have a regular swiffer and wet pads for quick cleanup - but find I barely use it.

Re: Girls, what do you use on your tile floors?
ok, i grew up with old italian ladies..so I clean my tile floors (kitchen & bathroom) on my hands & knees with a wet rag and lately I've been using Mr. Clean Powerful Multi-surface cleaning with Febreeze. It works really well and smells good!
Wow I am impressed with you ladies who get down on your hands and knees - I have done that a few times but my back can't take it LOL!
Thanks for all your input! I will check out the Shark steam mop, also

Re: Girls, what do you use on your tile floors?
I do the get down on my knees thing so that I can reach into the corners. For a quick clean, I attach a microfiber cloth dipped in cleaning solution to my Swiffer broom. I've heard wonderful things about the Shark steam cleaner, my sister has one, but it can only be used on sealed floors. My tile in the kitchen and foyer is the old vinyl stuff, so the steam cleaner would lift it. Don't use bleach on ceramic floor tile. It actually eats into the grout creating grooves that trap dirt. White vinegar works just as well. I find that all purpose Mr. Clean does the job well.

What type of finish are on your wood floors? Ours are really shiny...its like a high gloss finish and I am scared to shark them. Plus the shark hurts my arm after about 10 minutes!

Those who have the Shark... I looked it up on BB&B's website - so there's no like chemical solution used to clean the floors? Only steam from regular water? I guess I don't see how that actually works? LOL!

It cleans, believe me! Hot, hot steam cleans well. Nothing ever cleaned my floors this good without leaving a film. I love it!

We rent and the finish is dull .. but it's just steam, I can't see how it would damage them. I know - the shark is a pain to push around - but it works so well!
