I was reading the post by gfield & it seems like a bunch of us are house hunting (we're not ready to buy yet but we just started looking so we know whats out there)
Anyway I was just wondering what towns you girls are looking in
our first choice is Frankllin Square we also like lynbrook, merric & bellomre
i know everyones not from LI - we're in queens now but DH has to live in LI (because he's stubborn

We are looking in Howard Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods right now. Not seriously looking yet, just going to open houses when something catches our eye.
My cousin is trying to get me out to Massapequa but so far we are resisting
AND my brother is trying to get us to look at CONNECTICUT where he is looking, but I doubt we could do it! I don't even drive on highways!

My cousin is trying to get me out to Massapequa but so far we are resisting
AND my brother is trying to get us to look at CONNECTICUT where he is looking, but I doubt we could do it! I don't even drive on highways!

I love my town, i have lived in a bunch of towns on Long Island and i like it the best!!!! I am sure its totally differnet from where you grew up though!

I really do like it there. My cousin grew up in HB with me and she loves is in Mass. that is why she is trying to get me out there B U T she still works in Queens and the commute is killer!

yeah I was born in Massapequa and moved to Florida for 6 years and we came back to Massapequa. I got married and both DH and I want to stay in Massapequa, we just love it here. Just the right house has to come along with the right price. everything needs so much work.

We want to stay in Lynbrook or go to Valley Stream Gibson with Hewlett schools.. My whole family is right here and DH and I both grew up in those neighborhoods.. But we aren't looking yet!!!

I love Merrick, Bellmore and RVC. However , my DH is set on Garden City. He said he needs two train lines b/c he is always missing the train. So I guess I will be living in a shack in GC because the prices are so expensive.

we're looking all over the place. i think once we're in a position to actually buy, we'll narrow it down more, but so far we're looking into:

this forum has tons of info on various locations & house buying. it's quite informative.
we love east rockaway, in the lynbrook SD area. it's ideal, but we'd end up begin taxed out in our late years it would seem. oceanside is lovely. we hope to find something here. but we're now opening up to east meadow - the prices to property size ratio is better.

I live in Massapequa and LOVE it. It is such a great town. There are so many houses for sale, so you should definitely be able to find something...especially since it is a BUYER'S MARKET!!!

if we ever have money for a house and we stay in LI it would deff. be Lindenhurst and we would consider East Islip/Islip area but really we would love to stay in Lindy.

Sayville Oakdale Great River East Islip Bohemia Nesconset Smithtown St James Stonybrook Parts of Lake Grove Huntington Oyster Bay Parts of Glen Cove Massepequa Merrick Bellmore Parts of East Meadow
We gave ourselves more room to look since we are extremely picky about the house and location. We should be...its 400K or more!!! The longer we wait the better though...we are saving and saving and hopefully we buy at the right time.
My dh works in Nassau but both of our parents are in Suffolk...so its hard to make up our minds on where we want to live. Its such a difficult decision.

this is a great post! We rent in park slope and have been looking at park slope condos. It gets me so upset because it is sooo expensive for a 2 bedroom condo. I'm sure we could buy a whole house if we look elsewhere for the same amt of $, but we really don't know where to look. From what I'm getting from you guys, LI is no cheaper than brooklyn, but you prob get more for your $ -- is that the case? If I were to live in LI, I'd be looking for somewhere pretty close to the city, with good schools and a decent reform Jewish population. Anyone know which towns fit that bill?
