Girls who became step parents....

What are your feelings about the situation???
I've been with my husband for 7 years now, when I met him his daughter was 4. I love her to death but sometimes it can be a tough situation....How are you girls dealing with this issue?

I know how you feel. DH and I have been together for almost 3 years, his daughter is 10. We have a good situation but sometimes it's rough.

What kind of issues are you having?

I have a stepson and up until recently he did not want to be around me at all. He's 12 now and I've been with DH since 2003.

In March when he left to go home after the weekend he gave me a HUG!!!! It was a huge step since his mom had turned him against me since the wedding. We were fine for years but after the wedding he never wanted to be around me and DH would visit with him in NJ rather than have him come to NYC & spend the night with us. Or he would come to NYC and ask DH to stay at a family members house (sleep there with cousins) and he would avoid me as much as possible.

Recently he asked him mom if he could move to NY & stay with us. She said no way. He has done a complete 180

We were out shopping today (DH, SS and I) and SS grabbed my hand TWO DIFFERENT TIMES as we were all walking. It was random and unprovoked. The first time was as we left Target (picking up CD-R's) to walk a few blocks to the SUV and the next time was when we parked the SUV and walked a few blocks to go and pick up dinner. He is 12 and not at the age where I think he would just grab an adult's hand to cross the street. Plus, he kept holding my hand well after we crossed the street.

Later SS told DH (not me) that I am really nice and he does not know why he acted so nasty to me after we got married. He still has not told me any of this but he has finally come around after being distant for almost a year.

The ex lied to SS and said I was the cause of the break up DH dumped her in 2000 and we did not start dating until 2003. She fed SS so many lies that I'm sure he did not know what to think of me. I'm just glad that SS knows the truth now
