I thought our Duet package included some printed photos..but it doesn't and i know there are gonna be plenty i want printed..but it's pretty expensive to get a lot done. so wat did you guys do... ?? is the quality very different from the photographers prints to using a seperate place for prints??? just planning ahead. Re: girls who got digital proofs..
My photographer gave us all the proofs of our pics. We also got all the pics on a high resolution disk but she also gave me this nice big box with all the pics printed. This was included in the package so didn't have to pay extra for it
how much is Duet charging if they did this for you?

Re: girls who got digital proofs..
we got an online gallery of all pics, 2 photo albums of all pics printed, and a high res disk of all pics. Our package also included 2 8x10 matted photos. Any other large ones I wanted I ahd printed elsewhere. My photogrpahers quality was better, but he is also very pricey for prints.

Hmmm - how much is Duet charging? What will you be doing with the pictures?
I am really going to take a stand here and say to have them printed through Duet.
Here is my story. I had all my proofs printed from my photographer and they are gorgeous quality. I then took the cds and printed some for MIL as well as some enlargements. I went to a kodak store in NYC and lets just say the pictures are awful. Ok not awful but when you hold them up to the ones my photographer printed it is night and day difference.
That being said - at least do all your enlargements through the photog (we did - JMO)
Or why dont you request some through your photog to see the quality and then do some yourself or is that too much work?

Re: girls who got digital proofs..
I am so pissed that our photographer didn't give us a CD with all of our proofs on it (we only have 350 anyway). They want an extra $150 to make us a disk. But I'm thinking it might be worth it, b/c to get prints made through their website is like $5 to $7 a pop, and that's just for 4x6 or 5x7 sizes. So annoying! I feel like I'm the only bride who didn't get a disk of photos to do with what I want.

If it makes you feel better, I'm sure all that got or are getting them on disk, aren't getting them free.. I'm sure that same $150 was incorporated into all our package prices. Maybe yours is charging on an ala carte basis?

Re: girls who got digital proofs..
I think if you have to pay for the disc, pay for it. Cus then you can be free to make your own albums and get whatever prints you want. I know when DH and I were looking for a photogrpaher we made sure we got a disc of all prints. his sister used a photogrpaher that won't give her her disc till her albums are done. she ahs been married a eyar and still no disc! Thats unacceptable to me so we wanted to be sure that didn't happen to us.
ETA: this was in response to Dee's post. I forgot to quote.

Re: girls who got digital proofs..
thanks girls. I could of sworn we got the package with printed proofs when eric explained it...but i guess not. I double checked my contract and i didn't see it. I think it's like $3 a piece for each picture which i figure could get pricey if i want a lot of them printed. We have enlargements included.. i think 2 8x10s and a 16x20.. and our album. But i know there will def. be some that i want framed other than that and as much as i love having them all on a high res disc...i love printed pictures..lol. We loved the album for our guestbook from shutterfly....the quality was really great..especially since they were high res pics, but i'm just thinking that the picture quality won't be the same as the one's from duet!!! Thanks for the input..guess i'll be pinching some more pennies..lol.

i'll def. be getting some done through duet. It'll be worth it i'm sure. I know what you mean about the quality from other printing places which is why i was concerned. I know i can get 10 cent prints from places..but i want tem to look good! I'm a picture freak... everyone knows i always have a camera..and i usually have more than 1..lol. So when it comes to my wedding pics i wanna make sure i would have great quality.

we got both the cd and printed proofs. after going through them so often to pick out ones for an album I decided to reprint 200 to do an album to show people while waiting for THE album rather than tote around all 1000 proofs in 5 books.
Well went to cvs and printed a bunch and noticed they were darker than the proofs from photog. seems they do color adjustments to the cd version right before they print but didn't give me that updated cd. . . oh well. BUT I now know I need to adjust exposure before printing and the pics come out pretty good. some with alot of shadows I don't try to print and ones I really wanted to be super good I had them do. but you should be able to do alot yourself. that might be why Jenn's from kodak store didn't look as good too.

Re: girls who got digital proofs..
Alot of prof photographers from on fuji paper. I dont know if that makes a difference but my proofs were on fuji and Blue Daisy uses fuji. (Not sure where they are going through but just thought I'd add that little tid bit of info).
And yes - the proofs I printed myself were darker and even a bit grainy...eww.

Re: girls who got digital proofs..
we got digital proofs & already saved a ton of money. I luv winkflash. used that website for our Thank you. we gota 5x7 folded card for $1.25 ea. then we got a really nice enlargement for so cheap.
i just finished my mom's album on picaboo. it came out amazing. i got so many compliments on it. still trying to figure out how to post i caught a sale & save 50%. the album had over 50 pictures and it cost about $60.00. it was very easy to use & had great backgrounds.

i think we got the 2007 gold package. We got the engagement session and sign board included, and 3 enlargements, 1 12X12 album i think, 2 photogs, and video with 3 copies of the DVD. I could have sworn last time i asked we got printed proofs too...but when i asked this time around they said it wasn't in my contract..and i didnt see it listed there.

Re: girls who got digital proofs..
I worked with Duet to add some printed proofs to my package - I think I am getting 500 printed?? (I just got 1 photographer for the day, the digital proofs and some printed - no albums, I will make those on my own).
I do not think there will much of a difference if they are printed at a REAL photo place. I wouldn't go to shutterfly, cvs, etc - go to some place like berger brothers, cameta camera - a real photography store / studio to get them printed. You might pay a bit more but the paper, equipment, etc is worth it.

Re: girls who got digital proofs..
I also only got digital proofs with duet - got all the albums and enlargements through them though (not that i've picked them). I've printed a few on snapfish and kodakgallery; I've been happy with them and it's MUCH cheaper.

Re: girls who got digital proofs..
Henry Chan gives a dope leather flash drive with all the hi res then you tell him what percentage you want worked on in color and in blk and white and he does a book or loose prints at your choice, i chose the book and am doing loose prints myself off the flash drive, i don't wanna use kodakgallery or online even though time may not give me a choice, but i would like to go to a mom and pop processor, their work is always better quality bc they monitor colors in the machines better normally...
