girls who had a 'first time seeing FH soon to be DH' moment before the ceremony
i always see brides who had a 'revealing' moment before the actual ceremony... for those who did this - why exactly did you decide to do it? was it to get pics out of the way?? i have always thought that seeing FH/DH before the ceremony would totally loose the feeling when you are walking down the aisle
but i'm curious to hear from brides who did it & why they chose to do it!!!

we had our moment when we saw each other at our main picture location. Everything was amazing, we had time after the ceremony to go to our ch and hang out with our guests which let us have more time to dance and enjoy at the reception.
When I walked down the aisle everyone included DH was still wowed.

take pictures before. because i refused to have pictures taken at the rh. we couldn't do it outside because of the hurricane. plus i liked how the hotel looked better.
plus i wanted to enjoy my cocktail hour

We did it because we got married on site and wanted to have ample time to take pictures so we wouldnt miss our whole cocktail hour. Giorgio's has a lot of places to take pics and we really wanted to take advantage of all of them (gardens, golf course and beach) - so we got all these out of the way before the ceremony (Took 1 hour and 20 minutes!) It was a hard decision but a GOOD one and we listened to alot of other brides experiences before we made our final decision.
After the ceremony we took family pictures which seemed to take forever too. We had an hour and a half cocktail hour and still missed ALOT of it! I am glad we got most of our pics done early because we wouldnt have been able to get to all the cool spots or get to any of the cocktail hour!
Anyway - I also wanted to add that seeing DH during our reveal was the most special moment of the day. We both cried ALOT. It also helped take the stress off a bit and I was relaxed once I saw him! Then I walked down the aisle - it was SO SPECIAL again and we both cried again. I wouldnt take any of it back.
Edit for spelling errors!

For some of us--a church ceremony wasn't an option. If you get married at a church and then have hours after the ceremony for pics---then you don't need the before the ceremony moments.
DH and I had our ceremony at 11:15 am -- CH at 12 noon and reception from 1-5pm. i didn't want to spend our reception takings pics.
so we did the pics starting at like 830 that morning---had our reveal moment and i swear i thought i would be upset not having the 'he's seeing me walk down the aisle' first time would suuck...and in the end it worked out soooo much bettter. my DH wasn't as nervous for the ceremony and we got all the tears out of the way.
when he did see me going down the aisle--it still was amazingly special. i think if we hadn't done pics beforehand...i would have been a blubbering mess

we did it because we took our pics before everything...we just wanted a few minutes to ourselves before everything started...so glad we did it that way...i always wanted that 'look' down the aisle originally but i honestly was like a deer in the headlights walking down the aisle and don't remember it...haha.
ETA: we lived together for years so it wasn't like a brand new transition in our lives either

Re: girls who had a 'first time seeing FH soon to be DH' moment before the ceremony
we did this so we could take pics before the ceremony since we had the ceremony at the RH. it was the best decision we made. it definitely helped alleviate a lot of the nerves we had, although we were both still blubbery when the ceremony started. but it was wonderful to just have our closet family and friend share that moment with us. his reaction was so much more than i expected - his entire body was shaking and we just couldn't let go of each other. i'm glad that very intimate moment was not shared with all of our guests, just the most important ones. we're also shy people, and i think DH would have tried his hardest to hold back some of his emotion if the reveal had been when i walked down the aisle. it was definitely one of the best (if not the best) moments of the day.

We got married at the RH so it was ceremony right into CH, then reception. We had no choice but if I did have the choice, I still would not have changed a thing. It was sooo amazing seeing him before hand, it was still emotional and wonderful and for those people who say, I wanted to have that special moment of seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle, that moment was still spectactular and not the least bit less of a feeling because we had already seen each other.
ETA: We also stayed together the night before like any other night and woke up and had breakfast together, that was also special in itself because we were both so giddy with excitement.

we did it for pictures. I also stayed with him the night before; It didn't make sense to me to sleep alone or at my mom's where I hadn't slept in 6 years.
DH actually like a total jackas$ for our 'reveal' moment - he was trying to be funny like 'gasp, wow, OMG you look so beautiful boo hoo' and fake crying. I wanted to strangle him but couldn't help laughing at the same time.
case in point: look at his face AND his friend hysterical laughing in the background

Re: girls who had a 'first time seeing FH soon to be DH' moment before the ceremony
neither of us were into that whole thing. i don't sleep well when he isn't with me, so we slept together the night before, got ready in the same house, him downstairs, me upstairs, there was no reveal, no insane thing....it was much more about relaxing and having a good time than us staying separate and all tense & 'off'.
in fact, if we hadn't been together in the house - we never would've had EVERYONE in the BP's favorite moment of our whole wedding. We had pimp regalia (pimp stick, bling, hats, stuff like that - just to have fun with) and at one point, my mom shouts, 'OKAY, WHERE IS THE PIMP STICK, CUZ SOMEONE NEEDS A BEATING'. It was like time stopped and everyone DIED laughing...
for the few of you who know my mom - NOT something she'd say any day EVER.

We did it to take pics before too! We got married at the catering hall so we did it for timing reasons. It was fun seeing Sean before the ceremony. I remember how cute he was when he first saw me. He teared up and hugged me. :o)

I didn't do it, but I wish I had! We didn't have time to take outdoor pictures. When we mentioned it to friends and family we got this type of reaction So we ended up scratching the idea, I too only heard of 'The Reveal' from LIW.

We also did a reveal beforehand because the ceremony was at RH, and to get most of the pics out of the way. We got to enjoy about half the CH that way, plus we were more relaxed when it came down to the actual ceremony.

I orginally didn't want to see each other before the ceremony, but the photographer and our officant recommended it so that we could do a rehearsal and take photos (we got married at the RH). Honestly, it made a lot of sense to me that our first moment of seeing each other on our wedding day was just us. It was a great reminder of how right we are for each other and that the day was about the start of our life together.

We did it for pics also. We had our ceremony at the RH which lead right into CH and then the reception, and we didn't want to miss CH It worked out great. I had misgivings too before we made this decision but timewise it was the best choice for us... I would definitely do it again if I had to (hopefully I won't have to LOL)!

Re: girls who had a 'first time seeing FH soon to be DH' moment before the ceremony
I guess I'm in the minority, but I absolutely positively was not going to see DH before the ceremony! We did get married in church, but even if we hadn't, I would have figured out a way to make it happen. It was just one of those things I've always dreamed about... seeing each other for the first time as I walked down the aisle... and I wouldn't have changed it for anything. I understand why a lot of couples do the pics beforehand, but for me... it just wasn't an option.

Re: girls who had a 'first time seeing FH soon to be DH' moment before the ceremony
We got married at the hall, and took pictures before the ceremony.
Our ceremony didn't start until 8:30pm in November, so if we waited until after the ceremony we would have had all indoor pictures b/c it was pitch black out by that time.
So we took all our BP pictures at OWG ... which I love & I'm so glad we got to use their grounds and mansion as a backdrop. It was NOT an option to take pictures at the hall before the ceremony, even though it was supposed to be After we booked the hall & told them we wanted to come early to take pictures there, they booked a daytime wedding that ended right before our ceremony started
We took immediate family pictures at the hall in the bridal suite. But it was very rushed because we also had to do the Ketubah signing before the ceremony began.
As it is, there were so many important pictures that our photographer missed. Moments that are lost, that will never be captured.
I am really happy we had our 'reveal moment' in private, with just our photog and our BP there. We got a chance to see each other's reactions, and to actually talk and be together. Because of it, we were calm and not nervous for the ceremony.
