girls who had a 'first time seeing FH soon to be DH' moment before the ceremony

Original post by TommysWife08

i always see brides who had a 'revealing' moment before the actual ceremony... for those who did this - why exactly did you decide to do it? was it to get pics out of the way?? i have always thought that seeing FH/DH before the ceremony would totally loose the feeling when you are walking down the aisle

but i'm curious to hear from brides who did it & why they chose to do it!!!

We also did it before the ceremony so we could get tons of photos at OWG and enjoy our cocktail hour.

We still set up a reveal at OWG, here is a pic right after DH turned around and saw me behind him.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I absolutely positively was not going to see DH before the ceremony! We did get married in church, but even if we hadn't, I would have figured out a way to make it happen. It was just one of those things I've always dreamed about... seeing each other for the first time as I walked down the aisle... and I wouldn't have changed it for anything. I understand why a lot of couples do the pics beforehand, but for me... it just wasn't an option.

for one, i feel the same way you do! but i know a lot of ppl had a 'reveal' moment & like i said i never heard of it since LIW so thats why i was inquiring about it on here

everyone has their own way of doing things & as long as everyone gets their 'special' moment with DH, its whatever you want to do... i was just curious about it!

we did it. It was WAY EASIER to take the pictures before hand for us. We rented a trolly instead of limos so both of us and the entire bridal party was on it. Plus we got married at our RH and wanted to take pics at the beach and duck pond about 10 mins away also and didnt have enought time. Everything worked out wonderfully.

We almost didn't do it, but decided to get pics out of the way so we could enjoy our cocktail hour, We didn't want to miss any of our too short wedding! Im glad we did it! If we had gotten married at a church, we probably wouldnt have done this.

Many reasons.

1. We had a Jewish ceremony, which involves signing the ketubah TOGETHER in front of the rabbi and at least 2 witnesses BEFORE THE CEREMONY. In other words, we had to see eachother before anyway. We figured we might as well make it special, and then make the most of our time by getting most of our pictures done.

2. We were getting married at our hall with no gap, and I didn't want to miss our whole CH. FH, his family and half of our BP is from OOT and had never been to a NY wedding. I wanted them to get to see what a NY CH is like!

2. We wanted more time for pictures! We did pictures from 9am-11:15 and I still wish we had more time! We ended up taking a few more with the BP during the last few min of dinner.

3. I didn't want a big gap between the ceremony and reception. I hate that and think its really inconvenient for OOTers (we had many, and provided shuttle transportation between the hotel and the hall) and I think it takes away from the party atmosphere. I went to a wedding 2 weeks before my own that had a 3 hour break between the ceremony and reception and it's like... well, ok, i'll go home.. but sit around? I'm already dressed up, hair/makeup done, kind of kills the mood.

Walking down the aisle was still special

Like many of the other brides, we had a ketubah signing and no gap between the ceremony and reception. In order to do pictures, we needed to see each other first.

I had mixed feelings about it initially, but it was the best thing for me. I was so much calmer and happier after seeing DH! I actually think it helped me to relax and enjoy the ceremony more.

We had our ceremony at the RH. CH started immediately following the ceremony, so we wanted to have our pictures done so we could actually enjoy our wedding - not be taking pictures!
It was the best decision we ever made. The moment when we saw each other was amazing. He was turned around and I walked up behind him. We then had a few minutes where we could could be 'alone' and really enjoy the moment. It also calmed both of us down tremendously - in our pics we look totally relaxed and happy. The walk down the aisle was still a tremendous experience, when I stepped outside and saw him waiting there for me, it took my breath away - and I know he felt the same way.
For us, seeing each other before the ceremony only added to the whole wedding experience, and we would recommend it to anyone who asked for our advice!

We had a traditional Jewish ceremony, so we were required to see each other before the ceremony anyways for the unveiling ceremony (bedeken) and the ketubah (marriage contract) signing
