DH works the midnight shift so he comes home when Im going to work and sleeps. He does put in alot of overtime either before his schedule or after and on his days off. He does get cranky but I try not to argue about it b/c he works so hard.
He also has almost always worked 2 jobs, not b/c he needs to just b/c if the opportunity is there.
I appreciate him more for it and I do miss him, when it gets tough he usually slows down for a break

mine works late every day (til at least 8:30ish)except friday. If he's not in a meeting or doesn't have an appointment he comes home for dinner (since work is close).
normally ill make dinner...and either eat it with him or alone. if i have it alone he'll eat it when he gets home.
the nights he's home at a reasonable hour (before 9pm) we veg & watch tv together.
but most of our quality time is on the weekends although when lax begins (he coaches) he has practice sat morning and then games all day sunday.
when dh is around i get nothing done...so i use the time i have to have time for myself as well as time to get things done

aw. DH used to work very late hours too. Most nights he wouldn't even get home until about 1am (he only went into work at 4). I hated that, mostly because it felt as though we weren't together much at all and I can't possibly sleep in an empty house either so i'd always have to wait up for him.
Really, I just tried not to let the frustration get to me. It was a pain, and I tried hard to just be there for him, but i was honest too. And i told him that I really needed him to start working days rather than nights. He knew it was important to me, so he requested the change and got it.

danielle, DH works over night and I work days. I can go 3-4 days without seeing him... Its very hard !

ETS: DH works 2 jobs and he doesn't get home til late M-F. It is lonely. I make dinner every night and just sit with him when he eats. I eat alone

my DH works 3-11 and i work a regular 9-5, we basically see each other for a few hours during the day. I stay up for him most night when i'm not too tired and hang out with him for an hour before i go to bed. In the morning he'll get up to take our dog out while i'm getting ready and sometimes have a cup of coffee, before he goes back to sleep.
We try to spend as much time together as we can during the weekends.

She is a VERY nice doggie but just not with other puppies.
