girls with cats/kittens

does your furbaby have a kitty condo?

i really want one for aurora.. but DH thinks its a waste of money and there's no room for one (um, we took down our tree because of the cat, it could go RIGHT where the tree was )

I found some on Amazon for under $35.00...
I just want something simple, three-tiered, simple color, etc.

so, do you have one? and if so, what does it look like and what was the approx cost?
oh, and does your cat use it?

Re: girls with cats/kittens

When BIL's cat lived with us, he had one. The cat really liked it. Tell DH if you don't get one the cat is likely to claw things like your couch and curtains.

Re: girls with cats/kittens

I had one for my cat when he was a kitten many years ago - from what I remember, he liked it but I guess grew bored of it pretty quickly and never went near it again lol

Re: girls with cats/kittens

We have one for slash and he LOVES it! It has 2 huts and 4 levels (ya, we're a little crazy over our guy). He's sitting on the top tier at this very moment. It's like his place to retreat and scratch and have some down time. We spent about 75 on it (again, we're crazy cat people apparently - the thing is like 6 ft tall). I will post pics soon - running out of the apartment now!

Re: girls with cats/kittens

We have one for Odin and Freya, they love the freakin thing. Its tall, and they will climb it, jump all over it, sleep on it if we are in the living room.

ETA: ours is 3 tiers, the lower tier is a tube that Odin sleeps in, then two higher tiers, one with a toy dangling from it. Its tall, about 6 feet tall

Do you let the cat out at all? If you do, please don't de-claw her!

NOPE. we bought her a leash.. we took her out ONCE while we smoked a cig, and i held her the whole time. then on sunday (before it snowed) we took her to petsmart.
usually she RUNS from us when we open the door... but yesterday, she tried to run outside.

which is why i do NOT want to de-claw her.
but, she has been getting nasty and clawing at me lately. and dh wanted to get her declawed before we even got her.

Re: girls with cats/kittens

I dont have one... I really want one for my two girls, but we just don't have the space...

But.. I know I'll get mine from (heck I get everything for my furbabies) at www.petedge.com

- they sell to small or boutique pet shops, but the general public can order too... the shipping can be expensive, but you get such a good deal on the item itself, that its still usually a savings from what you'd spend in the pet store.

Re: girls with cats/kittens

we don't have one.
please don't declaw your cat unless you really really really have no alternative. clover is declawed, and i just want to cry every time i look at her deformed paws and think of what she must have gone through (i was 14 at the time, what the hell did i know).

Re: girls with cats/kittens

DHs cat had a condo type thing that stood up about 4' when they lived at his moms apartment & she loved it. Once DH & the cat moved in with me we didn't bring the condo over because we didn't have enough space for it. Instead I got her a little kitty tent from ikea. She would nap in it regularly, especially during the summer, I think to escape from the heat during the day or cold AC in the evening.

This. I mean, it's a cat. It doesn't know any better. If you bother it, it's gonna scratch you. To me, it's the equivalent of ripping a person's fingernails from their beds and that doesn't sound too pleasant.

Re: girls with cats/kittens

don't get her declawed... that's CRUEL! if she starts scratching at couches and furniture it's bc she doesn't have enough toys, scratching posts, etc. to keep her occupied and happy. we have one like this and our cats love it and go crazy scratching it:

Re: girls with cats/kittens

DH and I have one for our 2 cats and they love it. I think if you have room for it, its definitely worth the investment for the furbabies
