I was thinking of going out to dinner tomorrow but just realized that maybe i should make reservations ASAP if we want to do this. Part of me though thinks that maybe room service would better. I kinda like the idea of being in our robes in the room, ordering room service and lounging while we eat and drinking too. But then i think maybe going out to dinner would be nice, but then think the city might be a bit too annoying and hectic and our hotel is in the times square area so going in and out can be a pain.
What would you do? I am so confused on such a small decision but i need to act soon if i do decide dinner, although the whole lounging comfortably and eating in bed is sounding good

Maybe you guys can do both. Go out to dinner and order dessert and champagne for room service.

Re: Go out to dinner or room service?
doing both sounds fun - like go out to dinner and then dessert in bed......
BUT
i like room service b/c you can go out to a restaurant any time - but room service is something different - like you said, eat and drink in bed all comfy cozy - and its different than doing that home b/c you dont have to clean up after yourself!

I LOVE room service too although some things are insanely priced, well most things. I remember the place we stayed on wedding night, it was 20 for a small sandwich i can get a bowl of pasta for that elsewhere but its NYE so maybe i shouldnt pay attention to that lol. But i do think maybe it would be a bit more romantic

Bring some candles with you and light them and have a nice romantic dinner at the hotel.

It depends where the hotel is located. Does the hotel have a restaurant inside? Room Service is a really romantic option thought. What time would you guys be getting there? If its really early then I would leave the room for dinner, if its around dinner time I would stay in and bring in '09 with a bang

Yeah its on 44th street between 5th and 6th avenue, which is 1 block from times square. Thats the only thing im afraid of, to get around will be a pain.
Ahhhh is it gonna be that cold, freaking NYE always is.
I think im gonna see what restaurants the hotel has, that might be better. Dh just suggested that to check out, should've thought of that myself

Ooo i like the candles idea, maybe ill buy a few other goodies. And good point about being able to go to a restaurant anytime but room service you dont always get to do.
I think i may even go to blockbuster, get a movie so we'll have our relaxing lounging time, eat and then whatever lol

Re: Go out to dinner or room service?
personally i would go out to dinner. there are tons of great little restaurants on 8th or 9th avenue that you might not even need a res for - of course if you want someplace fancy then i would call now.

Re: Go out to dinner or room service?
On New Years Eve I always find resturants are overpriced, overcrowded and rush you out! It might be more relaxing to hang with DH and order in. Maybe then get dressed up and go out for a drink?

well its good he finally said something helpful bc when i first asked he just said he'll do whatever and for me to decide. They do have this restaurant that is french and asian inspiration, sounds like something we would like. But then again im sure you can order room service from this place.

i was going to suggest the hotel restaurant also. they can be pretty good usually and might not be so crazy. but yeah if you do go out i would get out of that area... db bistro is right there and they are really good - have an amazing burger. might not be booked.
I'm not looking forward to being in the city at all... i hear you about getting around; have no idea how we are getting home.

that is true and a real good point. I think having to get through the huge crowd in TS, then going somewhere crowded and overpriced might annoy us lol.
thats it im telling dh to decide and not leave it up to me, i am the worst at this sometimes and overthink everything. Guys are more simple and make decisions easier

where in the city are you going? some parts are not bad and also depends how you get there. 2 years ago we went to the city and dh and i avoided the 59th street bridge and midtown tunnel which we usually take either or. We left around 8pm and took the triborough from queens, got off at 88th street or is 90th street, whatever that exit is lol. It was PERFECT!!!! we hit absolutely no traffic at all. We had to get to like 55th street between 10th and 11th and going from uptown to that part was the best, took us like 15-20 mins
