I was thinking of going out to dinner tomorrow but just realized that maybe i should make reservations ASAP if we want to do this. Part of me though thinks that maybe room service would better. I kinda like the idea of being in our robes in the room, ordering room service and lounging while we eat and drinking too. But then i think maybe going out to dinner would be nice, but then think the city might be a bit too annoying and hectic and our hotel is in the times square area so going in and out can be a pain.
What would you do? I am so confused on such a small decision but i need to act soon if i do decide dinner, although the whole lounging comfortably and eating in bed is sounding good

Re: Go out to dinner or room service?
Oh I just love room service. DH doesn't really love to go out to dinner but I love to. I feel like you can go out to dinner anytime but its a treat to get room service. Plus I can lay around in lingerie (with a robe over it ) instead of getting dressed up. I think my favorite part though is the little mustard/ketchup/mayo jars you get. So my vote is for room service.

Where is the hotel located? If its near TS i'd stay in and avoid the craziness.
Plus its supposed to be bitterly cold tom. night
Yeah its on 44th street between 5th and 6th avenue, which is 1 block from times square. Thats the only thing im afraid of, to get around will be a pain.
Ahhhh is it gonna be that cold, freaking NYE always is.
I think im gonna see what restaurants the hotel has, that might be better. Dh just suggested that to check out, should've thought of that myself
i was going to suggest the hotel restaurant also. they can be pretty good usually and might not be so crazy. but yeah if you do go out i would get out of that area... db bistro is right there and they are really good - have an amazing burger. might not be booked.
I'm not looking forward to being in the city at all... i hear you about getting around; have no idea how we are getting home.
where in the city are you going? some parts are not bad and also depends how you get there. 2 years ago we went to the city and dh and i avoided the 59th street bridge and midtown tunnel which we usually take either or. We left around 8pm and took the triborough from queens, got off at 88th street or is 90th street, whatever that exit is lol. It was PERFECT!!!! we hit absolutely no traffic at all. We had to get to like 55th street between 10th and 11th and going from uptown to that part was the best, took us like 15-20 mins
we're going to be on 10th and 16th street I think. I know it's on 10th ave for sure. I'm just guessing we will take the LIRR or the E train in... neither of us feel like driving and dealing with parking though over there it won't be too bad i guess. good to know though; dh always takes the 59th street bridge or williamsburg depending - I always take the tunnel. he's cheap.

I Think you should go to dinner at the resturant its nice to get dressed have a drink or 2 at the bar than head up to your room and relax!!! pack some bottles of wine to bring with you!!
i know i always say i want to stay in, lol than when i stay in I say i shoulda went out lol
you just said what my dilemma is lol. I keep thinking that if i say we stay in, then later on that night i might think why didnt we go out hahahaha. But then if we go out and deal with stupidity and a big idiot parade, i will say great why didnt we stay in i dont want to blamed, so thats why id rather dh pick

Ah yeah parking might be a bit harder there. We met up at a friends house and somehow found parking right in front of their building once we got there, we were surprised how smoothly it all went considering we expected the worst but then to go downtown to where we were all going we did take cabs.
LOL dh ALWAYS takes the midtown tunnel and i always take the 59th street bridge, he always says the same thing to me and that im being cheap

I love room service and lounging around in robes so I would pick that option and then go out after for drinks

Maybe you guys can do both. Go out to dinner and order dessert and champagne for room service.
I like this idea.

I LOVE room service! I would probably want to avoid going out in a large crowd but that is just me, I would totally order a bunch delish food, good wine or champagne and enjoy my husband
Ohh also aren't they calling for bad weather tomorrow night? What better reason to stay in and cuddle up with room service!

i like the enjoying part but maybe before we even eat hahaha so I dont have that full and cant move felling
i did check out reviews on the hotel restaurant called Gaby and does sound great. They say it looks like a 1920's private quarters feminine place, whatever that exactly means but then again i think all the reviews say its VERY pricey, although that would mean room service would also be very pricey.
Plus this way we can bring our own bottle of scotch, champagne, and other drinks to have

Re: Go out to dinner or room service?
I just checked Opentable for that straunt for tomorrow and the only available reservation was 530... so... if you were planning on eating way before or 1030 if you plan on eating a lil before. Also try the Opentable site if you want to leave the hotel's premises because there are a ton of reservations still available.
Either way have fun !!! Lucky gal
