no i can't that is the bad part, we lose one salary BUT we also won't NEED my salary to own a home down there which is a big part of the reason we want to move - especially so that when its time for a family i can be a stay at home mom. In NY there is no way we could afford the kind of lifestyle we want with kids on just one salary - and DH has a great job and makes good money - but its just too expensive for the kind of house we want and we dont want to be stressed about money with having such an expensive mortgage.....so when we go down i am going to look for a job, but im going to be really sad to leave my job here, and who knows what kind of job i'll find down there - DH says that i should work in a store like home depot, bed bath and beyond, macys, bloomingdales - so that way we can get employee discount

i totally hear you, i just waitress like 3-4x per week at night and one day while my daughter is at school, but hopefully when i get prego(over the summer), i'll stop, and don't get me wrong....it's going to be a lot on my hubby, but he's such a workaholic, that i'm not worrieed and before i cam along he already owned the house w/ a single income!! I give him like $700 a month for misc bills, so he carries most of the weight. but, especially being that you have family down there, that has to make it easier for you!!

good for him that he had a house already! that has to help a little....

my DH is a little stubborn and I guess I am too - we both want something that is new construction or less than 5 years old, with a big yard, we don't want a townhouse - we want to be detached, we want a pool and to get that type of home in staten island has to be at least half a million - and thats minus the big yard - if you are lucky and can fit a pool that would have to be added on yourself and inground pools are expensive to build....we thought about NJ - and we can get more for our money, but the taxes are higher and we aren't really crazy about NJ....in florida we can get the type of house we want for give or take 200K - so that is a big factor, makes our mortgage payment feel more like our rent payment here - plus we both really want that lifestyle - DH is sick of the city, sick of the rush, we are sick of the cold, when we picture having kids and a family we picture doing it down south....i just hope it works out....its scary to pick and move across the country!! but for us we see more pros than cons.....but not everyone can hang in florida my sister hates it, but she is young - senior in high school and moved from NY - so for her its not that appealing....so it depends on where you are at and what you like.....

we are in port st lucie/tradition, i just posted the link of where I live on the other posting on the newlywed board (the one about moving out of NY). I am about an hour south of melbourne (i actually got my dress there!) we have been down here almost 3 yrs. it really did take alot to get used to. Its hard when you are programmed for the hustle and bustle, then come here, it is a very relaxed lifestyle. But the homes in the area, you cannot beat. They are gorgeous, the weather is great... It can get a little boring at times, so we often go to west palm beach to go out. You would prob be closer to orlando to do that. I am not sure what there is to do up in the melbourne area - not too familiar with it. But if you are still in the mode of liking to go out, and have a little more choice what to do on the weekends, and go to dinners and such, i would suggest looking a bit more south of where you are ... just a sugg. for instance, Jupiter or palm beach gardens would be awesome. If we were to move, thats where we would head. its perfect for people our age.... lots to do! FM with any more ?'s, i will be glad to help u.
