Re: Going to Jamaica...

You could end up at Hedonism?

I stayed at Breezes Montego Bay. Its not super upscale but its fun. There are some nice included activities that keep you entertained. The food was not great but the fruit is yummy. And the drinks are watered down but I sort of liked that. The 'club' at night was pretty pathetic but Im guessing that just depends on when you. Especially if you are going with a bunch of girls, I think you will have such a great time b/c its will be party the whole time :D

Could you share some details and prices about your trip? Im looking for bachelorette party ideas :D

sorry to butt in on this thread, but I am too interested in going to Jamaica.

Pardon my ignorance, but can someone explain hedonism, I know that it is an area where people are umm open?

Re: Going to Jamaica...

Hedonism is a all inclusive resort. There are two parts - the 'nude' side and the 'prude' side. So you dont have to get naked if you dont want to. But the prude side is pretty empty if that gives you an idea of who goes there.

I dont want to offend anyone but its pretty gross. It seems people go there entirely to have orgys. Plus, 99% of the people there are disguisting looking.

We went for one day when I was in Jamaica thinking it was more hype than anything. B/c if you read the brochures, it doesnt say anything at all..it just eludes to some racy activity. Its not hype..the people there are dead serious. I didnt stay until the nightime when i hear it gets really bad but I had just about enough by the time the afternoon rolled around. It was a really funny experience b/c there was so much to laugh at there.

Stef, I know <-- That's how I reacted when I found out Hedonism was a possibility. I refuse to walk around with my mini tatas hanging out all over the place. Yuck for me and yuck for people who have to see me

I hope it's the one jennbaby mentioned.

Is it really hot in July??????

I don't mind saying how much I paid. frankly, i think it's too much, lol. It's 12 girls, 3 in a room, ocean view rooms. All inclusive, 5 days/4 nights. $860.

Thats not so bad if it includes airfare. And its definitely a more memorable bachelorette than most.

I wouldnt worry too much about teh Hedonism factor. From what I understand, its almost ALWAYS sold out. Breezes Montego Bay is supposed to be popular for that kind of package as is Beaches which is a family resort.

YEAH for you
You are going to have so much fun. We stayed at a SuperClubs resort in Bahamas, and it's not as fancy as Sandals but there are so much activites. Len and I had a ball

Re: Going to Jamaica...

I went to Jamaica in July of 97.....it was pretty hot but I remember there was a nice breeze everyday in the afternoon, but I love the sun and warm tropical weather! We stayed by the pool or on the beach most of the day....

We stayed at Braco Village (all inclusive) which was new then - and really pretty, and the beach was private (some I hear are not) - now its SuperClubs Grand Lido Braco so not sure how it is now - it is in Trelawny - in b/w montego bay and ocho rios.

Anyway, we did 2 guided tours -

Dunns River Waterfalls
Martha Brae River Rafting

Both were alot of fun but on the Dunns River tour we also went into town and that was a bit scary. The locals accost you in the open air markets and try to sell you stuff....they are very aggresive - I remember I bought a necklace even though I didnt want it....but the staff on the resort were super nice so I dont know...I would definitely suggest as others have doing guided tours not alone....as it is not like other islands where you can roam freely and they dont have a great transportation system. The roads are pretty scary and they drive crazy!

I remember also the fruit in Jamaica was awesome as was their Blue Mountain coffee! Have fun!

ETA: Oh I just remembered something else that I was a bit intimidated.. when we got out of the airport in Montego Bay, we were looking for our bus to the resort - we found it but on our walk outside people were in the parking lot trying to sell us Red Stripes and pot. Really weird first impression of the island! But Jamaica has some beautiful natural landscape/scenery and beaches, it is a shame how poor the country is.

Re: Going to Jamaica...

Jamaica is a wonderful experience - it's partly my home country. I say partly b/c I was born in London, but my family is Jamaican.

Anyway, I think you'll love Jamaica! Outside of the people hassling you to sell you stuff it's fun.
I love Ocho Rios the most - do not go to Kingston, I heard it's really bad there.

There is Dunns River, Dolphin Cove, Scuba Diving etc. I really recommend Dophin Cove VERY highly. You can swim with the Dolphins and hang out for a while. Your hotel should have an activity center that will have daily excursions for you all to enjoy. Jamaica has typical island adventures. However, I agree, don't wander too far from the resort without a guide and just be careful like you would anywhere else.

ENJOY!!!!

Re: Going to Jamaica...

I went to Hedonism III on my honeymoon in July, and it wasn't too hot! If you do go on any group trips book them ASAP because they book up quickly.. If you get a chance go swimming with the dolphins, it was amazing! edited to say~ we are not into the crazy stuff, it was a young crowd and a lot of fun.. The entertainment staff was very friendly and always getting you involved with the drinking games, which they played all day long.. They also had a trapeze, circus clinic.. There is a clothing optional area which we stayed at, but YES the NUDE side does get a little crazy at night, we even stayed away..
