Good furniture stores?

Good furniture stores?

Hey Ladies!

Wanted to know if you could give me some pointers about furniture stores. I've checked out Ethan Allen & Raymour and Flannigan. Any other stores I should check out?

TIA!

Macy's Furniture Gallery, Fortunoff and Raymour Flannigan. Stay away from Ikea, Bob's furniture and any of those discounted outlets if you want 'good' furniture. I am assuming you mean 'well-made' and will last forever good. Always ask if your furniture is solid wood...that determines good from not so good. Good luck and happy shopping!

There is a store on Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park (I think) called something like St. Paul Vincent. its a used furniture store. but they have this person who also builds new wooden furniture and he sells it there. We got a beautiful wooden kitchen table with 6 chairs for $400. DH's mom said she thought that was an amazing price for the quality. Might be worth checking out for tables and bedroom sets if you need those.

ETA: We got our sectional couch at Raymour Flannigan and love it- so comfy! But I feel liek the cushions are kinda warping (its almost 2 years old)- but we have the 7 year guarentee thingy so i can call and have them replace them. We got our coffee table from Ikea and love it. Also we got a bookshelf from there. Some stuff at Ikea is awesome, some isn't. We have our dressers from ikea and they are fine, but if you fill them too much, the bottoms start to warp.

We have our bedroom and dining room furniture from Thomasville. Living room from LAZBoy. Our kitchen table/island was designed by DH's dad, but built at this store in Brooklyn, I can't remember the name.

I second the St. Vincent De Paul Furniture place- we got a gorgeous antique maple wood desk for about $400.

St. Vincent De Paul also sells new furniture if they have it in -- it is not all used.

Also try Ashley furniture. I have heard mixed reviews about The Place but may be worth looking into

We got our sectional from Bobs...we love it and so does everyone who sits on it. IMO..it's a 'good' piece of funrniture. My dad is a carpenter and says he can tell it's well made. DH's dad has quite a few pieces from there and they've lasted quite a few years and are still going strong. The reaon they are cheaper is becuase they don't bargain with you and don't have sales like other furniture stores. We looked at about 8 other stores and this was the one liked best and te price was great..might be worth a try..

I have to say, my cousin has had a sectional and recliner chairs from Bob's for over ten years and they held up very well. Only one recliner was a little wobbly since people seemed to sit on that one the most and it took a lot of abuse. She only just got rid of it in the last year because she wanted to redecorate.

Re: Good furniture stores?

We recently furnished pretty much our entire house, and we have been very happy with everything...We bought a ton of stuff at Raymour & Flanigan, some at Ethan Allen and some at Thomasville. We also bought some coffee tables from Macy's furniture - they are very nice, but it took forever to get them...
