Good shower locations...
As well as planning my own wedding, I am MOH for my best riend.I need a place for her shower in the North Fork of Nassau County and don't know what my options are. About 80 women will be invited and there is no problem with buffet style food.
I would love a room at a country club, but are they very expensive for something like this? North Hills, North Ritz, something like that.
Any idea what I should expect to pay per person?
Would Sunday afternoon be much cheaper than Sat., do you think?
How soon before your wedding was your shower?
When would you have the shower for a wedding that is the first week of May? Many of the guests will be traveling a couple of hours. I'm worried about wintry weather, so I'd like to push it as late as possible.
I'm sorry to be asking so many questions. I just discovered this site and am thrilled to be able to get information from women who have been there.
Thanks for any and all information.

Re: Good shower locations...
I dont have any locations to suggest but I would say make it no later than one month before the wedding if possible. The last month is really busy for most brides so best to leave it clear.I had my shower in August and my wedding was in Oct.

Boy do you have your hands full! Welcome to the boards & congratulations on your upcoming wedding. For the shower - I think the beginning of April would be the best time, just check for when Passover & Easter falls so as not to conflict with the holidays or vacation plans.
I am thinking that Sunday afternoon would be less expensive.
The George Washington Manor, Douglaston Manor, The Swan Club and the Millridge Inn pop into my head for being able to handle a party that size but you would have to call them to be sure.
Are there are some restaurants near you or the bride that you can check out that may be able to handle the party that size?
Good luck!

Thanks so much for the welcome and your ideas so far. I would guess late March would be the best bet. Plus the guests would have Easter on their mind is if were any later.I really hope I get some location ideas.

Re: Good shower locations...
Mine was at Il Sapore in Roslyn. There was 55 of us there and there was room for more. Try giving them a call. They also had a room upstairs for bigger parties. As far as the date goes, if you want to truly surprise her, I would say do it towards the beginning of March. My wedding was 5/24 and my shower was 3/29. The closer you get to the wedding date, the more likely she is to figure it out.

Re: Good shower locations...
Thanks but I really need to stay in Nassau or even closer to the city line.I'll look into Il Sapore, as well as a few other mentioned here. Where is it exactly - near Northern Blvd. or south of that?

Diane's in Rosyln! Its the absolute best food ever. My guess is that it is about $50-$75 per head.

Is Sapore is right off the exit for WIllis Ave on the LIE, before you hit northern. I think, but I'm not sure, that it was around $30 a person.
