Gown preservation

Just wondering how many brides decided to have their gowns cleaned and preserved, and if you did, how much it cost, where did you have it done and were you happy with them. My gown is still hanging on the back of my door since I can't decide what to do. Thanks!

Re: Gown preservation

I used wedclean and was thrilled with their service. They cleaned, preserved and shipped back and forth for cheaper than what my local dry cleaner wanted.

Re: Gown preservation

I brought mine to a dry cleaner recommended bu JLO24 - it was only $79 (they were having a May sale). It's cleaned & boxed - I don't even know if it's 'preserved'.

It's boxed really nicely!

Re: Gown preservation

From all that I've read on here I should have used Wedclean because it seems it is soooo much cheaper than what I spent (almost $200) and everyone has had nothing but good experiences with them. I had mine done through the dress shop I got it at.

My MOH came to the hotel after the wedding & took some pics of DH & I then took both my dress & his tux. She returned his tux & dropped off my dress so I never saw it after that evening.

Re: Gown preservation

My friend told me that it costs about $500 to get it cleaned, preserved and boxed at a cleaners. I thought that price was crazy. I got married last May and still haven't cleaned and preserved my dress.
I mentioned to my DH about wedclean, and he said what if your dress gets lost, it's not replacable. So far I haven't heard anything bad about them!
Do regular dry cleaners clean and preserve your dress???

Re: Gown preservation

I was afraid of my dress getting lost in the mail too - but you can get insurance on it, which is what i did, so that in case it gets lost, at least all is not completely lost!!! it costs a little more, but i'm sending the bill to the limo company anyway because the car floor had a big puddle on it that got my dress all dirty

Re: Gown preservation

I had mine done at Flowerama where I bought the dress. It was only $75 and it's boxed really nicely. I wasn't going to do it but DH though I should, he felt it's an heirloom in case we have kids.

Re: Gown preservation

Well,
I still have mine hanging on the back of my closet door too....Yea I am lazy, but also I am worried about it getting lost. I checked online and found one place in Mass. They look to be very reliable and resonable in price. They are asking for $149.95 . They will ship you a box and instructions to put stickers on the stains you see, and then you ship it to them and they clean and perserve it and put it in a box. Sounds great...just nervous.
I have read articles on how the wrong perservation can ruin your dress, if they use the wrong cleaners, chemicals, or handle it wrong. SO I am hoping this place does a good job..I will keep you updated when I actually do it...if I use them...The site is www.ladyslippergardens.com
Under Preservation...I don't know about the other company everyone is using....is it really that good? I checked out the website and it seems ok...I don't know..I am confused too...Pam
