GPS Device - Question

GPS Device - Question

We have OnStar in one of our cars and we love it. It is so easy to use for directions.

We're thinking of buying a GPS device for our other car.

Then, we will also be able to take it on vacation and use in a rental car, also

How do you enter your destination in the device, especially if you don't have a PC available?

TIA

So, you push an icon on the screen to tell it that you want directions...then a key pad shows up on the screen...then you type in the street address and city?

Yes. It prompts you. I have an insignia from best buy and love it. Mine came with a year subscription to a wireless internet connection - it is connected via satelite I guess - so it updates the maps all the time, and it uses google to find nearby restaurants, gas stations, hotels, whatever you need. It's the best!

Re: GPS Device - Question

there is a touch screen. I LOVE the GPS!

I was in NJ recently and the GPS wouldnt take me home via the Goethals so I called Onstar and they gave me directions, but by the time they BS'd to me I saw the sign for the goethals and the GPS recalculated itselt to go that way.

The Onstar people talk too much- just give me the damn directions and stop telling me how much you are trying to get me the best directions.

I like seeing the map too. It helps.
