Grand Theft Auto-Anyone a Gamer's Widow?

Anyone a gamer's widow from this very over-rated, very hyped up video, PS2, X Box game? Quite frankly I'm at a point where I want to dump it and the whole PS2 unit out the window.

How you as wives deal/handle your husband's addiction for video PS2, X Box games?

OMG YES!!!! I am definitely a video-game WIDOW!!!

DH is VERY into games -- all kinds: console games (he has just about every console too), AND computer games. So if he's not on one, he's on the other.

When we first started dating, it used to bug me alot, but eventually I learned to deal with it. The way I handle it is that I just realized it's what he needs to do to unwind. He engrosses himself in these fantasy worlds for hours on end but I take advantage of the time he's off in that other world by either

A - engrossing MYSELF on my computer (mostly LIW ) OR

B - talking on the phone (catching up with people I neglected during wedding planning) -- he HATES when I talk on the phone so that balances things out.

But I know how you feel about this new Grand Theft Auto -- I HATE the sound effects... he blasts the TV and all I hear is gunshots and Snoop Dog's voice for hours... so sometimes I sneak over there and lower the volume on the TV... most times he doesn't even notice I lowered it!!!

We just recently spent three consecutive weekends shopping for the perfect 'gaming chair'...

in college DH convinced me to let him bring a barber shop chair into our apartment as his playstation seat.

Now that is funny!!

DH doesn't play GTA, but he is a Nintendo Addict!!! Every night when I get home from class, he's playing. Every weekend while i'm doing schoolwork, he's playing. Currently, the rotation consists of megaman, metroid and star wars....it drives me nuts. I have threatened to toss the system out the window!!!

it was horrible, and the sad part is he constantly worked on the barber chair to 'make it look cool'

DH's systems are on ice until Christmas break, he knows he can't handle having them out while he is in a school semester

I am so glad I am not alone!!

To be fair though, right now he is working on his master's thesis, so he doesn't play much.... but guess what he is getting his degree in...?

I just read this post...searching for you..and it's so great!

I am (as you know) a video game widow. My DH brings the gameboy Advance (which I got him) everywhere we go.

(Sigh)

I bought DH a PS2 like 2 or 3 weeks ago, and I bought him GTA: San Andreas.

Oy Vey. What did I do?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!

My silly DH is always on X-box live playing Halo2 with that stupid green earpiece in his ear. I always make fun of him and say,'Welcome to Mc Donalds, can I take your order?'

I absolutley positively hate it. It drives me crazy. I told him the first step is to admit he has a problem!


He plays all the time. I spend more time with my DOG!!
